There was a way, I just needed to find it and Jasper could help me, I could feel it. I picked out a book that was filled with poems and sat back down on the chair. I started reading each page, the words were beautiful. ’As the rain pours down I feel your love. As the wind blows I hear your voice. As the birds sing I can see your eyes. But after the accident, my nights had been filled with unbearable suffering. The only thing that had kept me going through those years of pain had been my love for Queenie. When I realized she no longer loved me, I had nothing left to hold onto in this world. As a crippled man, my existence would only burden my parents and son. "Mom, you're lying." Leroy pushed Queenie away. "You held a knife to my neck and said that only Mr. Francis mattered to you. That Dad and I didn't matter at all. "It's your fault I don't have a dad anymore. I hate you. You're nothing like my friends' moms. Their moms only love their dads, but you love Mr. Francis."

She was lost in her own world, a world of pain and heartache. She needed to outrun the pain that threatened to consume her. She ran faster and faster and stopped. She let the pain and heartache wash over her, and she screamed. She screamed into the darkness, her voice echoing off the trees. The sound was raw and anguished. It seemed to come from deep within her. It was a sound of despair, of loss, of heartbreak. Crystal felt herself breaking down. The finality of Bridget's words echoed in my ears, like a mournful dirge. And then she turned and left the stage, walking away from me, leaving me exposed and broken in front of everyone. Humiliation and devastation mingled, forming a storm that raged within me. I clutched my chest as if to hold the shattered pieces of my heart together, feeling a raw emptiness that seemed impossible to bear.

Then he held her Pinky finger with his own and said -

But no matter how good her music is, there seems to be something missing. This is how I felt every time I saw and heard her sing and play any musical instrument before.

Quiet and sharp, curling around your lungs until every breath feels like a war. It’s the lump in your throat you can’t swallow, the sting in your eyes you pretend is just the wind. It’s knowing you were easy to replace. It’s realizing the man who once kissed your forehead like a vow now kisses someone else like it means nothing. It’s knowing you’ll go home to silence while he goes home to her.
