Storm-Worn Hearts
Trent’s counsel, apparently flipping through papers as if this is about property lines, not human lives tightening in fear.
The hearing begins. The judge’s voice is calm and procedural. Names, dates, the petition for a protective order. She asks Liberty to speak first.
Liberty stands. Her hands tremble, but her voice doesn’t. She tells the story with the brutal simplicity of facts: the relationship, the breakup, the repeated contacts, the showing up, the escalation. She talks about the bakery incidents, the box, the cut camera feed, and the note. She talks about trying to live anyway.
