Whoever it was must have swum away, taking their scent with them. We were a week into November now, so the temperature had dropped significantly. I couldn’t imagine that the culprit had gone far in the freezing water. We tried walking down the side of the brook for a mile with no luck. We backtracked and tried going a mile the other way. Nothing. Whoever it was, was able to swim more than a mile in freezing water.

~Missy’s Point of View~ I was standing in front of a huge fire. I looked all around and there were pups with marshmallows and hot dogs on sticks chasing each other. There were even a few puppies around, actual four legged ones. Hollow Hill rarely had any actual pets, since they tend to not like witches and can be easy food for vamps desperate for a quick snack. “Welcome to my humble home,” Ryan said, coming up behind me. He had a huge smile on his face and he was obviously proud. His happiness radiated through me.

I stared too. After a few minutes of staring, the most unusual thing I had ever seen in my entire life happened. Right before my eyes, the tree split into two. Between the two halves was a water-like surface. It looked like an entrance, a kind of door. The water-like surface did not reflect the forest; instead, it had a sky-like colour.

Whispers begin as those in front convey Tidiane's words to those in the back. "A river happened," says Tidiane. "An enormous rush of water that burst out from somewhere and next thing I knew it was crashing down on me! I had to shapeshift to a fish," he wrinkles his nose and sticks out his tongue. "I still smell like a sardine." "So," I say, trying to figure this out, "The Barren is flooded? All of it?" "Well, no," says Tidiane. "Now it is just like a place with a river running through it. But it's ruined for me. Now there will be plant growth and animals and then people and crops." He clicks his tongue. "Just ruined."

"But you smell like a walking war camp, Vivian. You look completely exhausted from dealing with my big, serious brothers. You need to clear your head. And honestly, so do I." I pointed my finger toward the east side of the valley. Just past the tree line lay the treacherous marshlands, a huge, dangerous swamp area full of deep mud holes, hidden quicksand, and slippery moss rocks. It was a place where one wrong step could drop a heavy horse into a watery grave.

* Fatima and stella were sitting in the cosy room busy in their work when questions started to disturb her mind. “can I ask you few questions, like if you don’t mind answering them?” asked stella. “yeah, feel free” Fatima smiled. “I wanted to ask you that what does your greeting mean, I mean salaam? Stella asked her nervously. “it means peace on you, and in return we say walaikum-asslam which means peace on you too” replied Fatima. “nice meaning” stella complemented. “do you need to pray to god every day?” she continued.
