Eight years later... Amaya's eyes followed me back and forth as I paced around my office nervously, " Your pacing is starting to get on my nerves" she said and crossed her legs on top of my desk. I stopped moving and faced her, " I'm so nervous. My heart feels like it's about to jump out of my chest. My palms are sweaty and I have butterflies in my tummy" I told her "oh I didn't notice" she said and rolled her eyes.

Everything is such a mess. I continue focus on breathing, and then it’s time to go. My palms are sweating; that’s how nervous I am. As I make my way through the dimly lit corridor that leads to the kitchen. I have this feeling like I might just fall and slam my head against the floor. I don’t, though.

The feel of so many eyes on me makes me extremely nervous to the point where I can't breathe. The nervousness is making me hyperventilate. We reach the front, and I'm pretty sure my face is covered in a thin layer of sweat at this point. Facing the crowd only increases my unease. I try to fight this feeling and suppress it as much as I can, but fail miserably.

Goddess why am I so nervous! My nerves are shot, my heart is pounding out of my chest, my hands are shaky and my palms are sweaty. I wipe my palms on my pants as I shift the flowers between hands. I shake my head and take another deep breath in before slowly letting it out and begin to walk toward the side of the pack house where everyone is gathered for her birthday.

That’s the moment that I saw him transition from a happy smile to something worried and puzzled like he is trying to remember something and wagged his head as as sign that he is trying to take away something that’s bothering him. I also felt his hand gets as cold as ice and feel it fidgeting. Why is he nervous? And why is he sweating like this despite the cold wind breeze in this garden. Is there something bothering him? I needed to know it. Badly need to.

My voice wavered, but I tried to sound casual. His gaze narrowed, scanning me. My chest rose and fell too quickly; my body was betraying me again. Heat crept across my face, and I knew he could see how flustered I was. He tilted his head, leaning one shoulder against the doorframe. “You’re nervous,” he murmured. “That’s not just about breakfast, is it?” My throat went dry. My lips parted to deny it, but nothing came out. Sweat trickled down my back, and my hands tightened into fists.

Hopefully, seeing people dance would pierce into people's souls soothingly. There was light all around the room, mirrors reflecting the side lights and an air conditioning system with an astronomical volume but Mustafa was wiping the sweat on his face with his handkerchief; he kept inserting his hands into his pockets, tapping his fingers on his hips, things I knew he did when he was nervous. "Nervous much?" I said to him, his attention was focused on me now. "I'm nervous as hell, Cassandra." He said huskily, his teeth chattering in fact like they had caught a cold or were simply just tender, like milky set of dentition.

EVELYN I woke up feeling more nervous than I ever had. It was the kind of anxiety that didn’t just stay still, it crawled under my skin and penetrated through my veins.
