We trapse down the side of the hill towards the small river that surrounds all of the werewolf kingdom. A cool wind rustles through the trees creating some sort of relief on this hot summer day. The water rushing past us laps roughly against the rocks on the banks of the river. SILVER LAKE PACK Malachi walked towards the pack house only hours before they were scheduled to leave for the Crystal River pack in Pennsylvania. Their packs were practically neighbors with only a small pack, Little Ridge, between them. Crystal River was a larger pack that was founded around the same time. Both larger packs had founding fathers of the United States and signers of the Declaration and Constitution.

She leaned forward, her cheek pressed against Ryder's fur as she felt drawn to its warmth. After a while, Ryder slowed to a stop and Crystal looked up to see a beautiful lake glinting. The water was crystal clear, reflecting the trees and sky above. Ryder's padded towards the lake's edge and Crystal slid off his back, walking towards the water's edge. The lake's tranquility was soothing. Ryder followed her, his eyes watching her with a gentle intensity. Crystal reached out a hand and Ryder nuzzled it, his fur soft and warm. Lana’s chirpy voice called out to me as she jogged over. “Hey we are all going to go for a swim in the Lake! Come on I’m dying out here.” She grabbed my hand and gave it a tug. “Ok, Ok. Let me get my bag.” I laughed at her excitement. A swim seemed nice. —--------- The lake was absolutely gorgeous. Like a hidden oasis tucked between the tall rocks and trees. Rushing Water from the cliff above rained down creating a mist.

Although I didn't say anything in response, the manager sat down opposite me and asked curiously, "It looks to me that he wants to pursue you. Aren't you going to consider accepting his advances? He looks like a good werewolf." I rummaged through my bag and retrieved two pills, swallowing them down with my coffee. "No. He's actually my ex-mate. We broke our bond over a decade ago." The manager was momentarily stunned before he scratched his head awkwardly. He then changed the topic to ease the tension in the air. "You must be here to see the sea of irises. He knew he needed a new tactic to make her understand so he started talking softly, his voice low. “There was a hunting party many years ago. We travelled to the Evergreen Peaks each fall and we spent weeks among the mountains, tracking beasts that pose a threat to our kingdom and in particular, our young. It was a warm fall, and we took several days off to rest by the Crystal Lake. The blue water is said to have healing properties. It’s right on the edge of the border between Daikon and Elail, far to the west, away from our castle and most of our people,” his voice resounded in the room, a low melody.

When we got back to the B&B Crystal put on her t-shirt to go inside. "Did you get to see the excitement over at the lake?" The lady asked. "What excitement?" "Seems there is a naked woman going round in a speed boat wearing only paint!" Crystal lifted the t-shirt and asked, "What color paint?" When the woman could finally speak she said, "Yellow." A few seconds later she said, "God damn lady, you're beautiful!" "Thanks."

Entering, I shut the doors behind me, taking in the vision that was my chambers. Across from where I stood, there was no wall just pillars supporting the high ceiling and a magnificent view of the Crystal Lake where The Trident's -the waterfall right beneath the palace - largest falls drained into. The water of the lake shined even in the night's darkness. A treat for my eyes. My eyes feasted on the view I had looking been at for a long time. It never got old. The place was timeless. Just how much we had achieved was astounding. No wars. We deserved it after what we had been through.

It was a side of us that would be reserved solely for them. I was not celibate, but I could honestly say that none of those females had ever gotten even a bit of my heart. Blood Lake was situated in a forested area. It wasn’t anything special. The most interesting part of the landscape was the large lake that had special crystals naturally embedded in it. They were called Blood Crystals because of their crimson color. They were sometimes used in rituals but were also just nice to look at. The crystals gave the lake a red glow to it, hence the name Blood Lake.

’ ‘As I said an idiot,’ I shove him to the back of my mind for some peace. It is only a two-hour drive to Crystal Lake and a half hour in I finally break the silence between us. “There are going to be some ground rules you will have to abide by. Other than that, you will like Crystal Lake.” She turns towards me, “Rules?” “Yes, rules.” “This should be interesting?” She says looking back out the window. “Rule one is a given. You are the Luna and Queen of all wolves so you will conduct yourself as such.” “Ok, I can do that.” She says nodding her head while still looking out the window.
