Kael. That was a nice name, and obviously respected. Finding a little confidence, I used my hands to grip at the fabric of my robes. “Before I accept, may I know the curse?” My head was still looking down, but I could hear the silence in the room following after my voice. It was unsettling and bone chilling.

Panic clawed my chest as his burning gaze landed on mine. His eyes were darkened by lust and his rich baritone voice was laced in anger. I knew I was in trouble, but I didn't care. Worry filled me as Alex's words rang in my memory. It was my first duty and I already messed up badly. I didn't think I would survive for long in this castle if I kept up with my disobedience.
