Arito's chanting didn't cease, and I felt it again, a sharp object, definitely a blade, cutting into my flesh.
The metallic scent of blood drifted into the air. My blood.
I could feel it sliding slowly down my skin, warm against the coldness of the chamber.
Tears clouded my vision as I bit my bottom lip, suppressing a scream.
"It is done.”
I heard him say, and immediately I yanked my hand away, utterly petrified.
The veil was lifted from my face, and light flooded my vision so suddenly that I blinked against it, my pulse hammering violently in my ears.
