Saturday Elle’s POV It was a beautiful day, the kind where nothing could go wrong. Tara walked by her side. She was saying something, but no sound was coming out of her mouth, and she didn’t seem to notice. Jimmy smiled at her from across the hall. Looking at him made alarm bells ring in her head; something was wrong. He stepped up to her asking if she was alright. She screamed. He leaned into her baring sharp pointed teeth covered in blood. She pushed him away. Suddenly, Jimmy was gone. She stumbled back and tried to clear her head. But it took her a few minutes.

“She sees your boy, Sasha. His shard, his blood—she’s taking it all.” The voices scream—Kill her. My claws twitch, my eyes blazing red. “You’re not touching me,” I growl, stepping forward. “Or Sasha.” “Jerry, don’t!” Sasha says, grabbing my arm, her voice quick. “She’s trying to trick you, like Morgana wants.” Tara laughs, her eyes cold. “You’re weak, Sasha,” she says. “You think you’re family? You’re a hunter. Always will be.” “Shut up!” Sasha yells, her voice cracking, charging at Tara. Their knives clash, sparks flying in the rain, but Tara’s faster, kicking Sasha into some crates. Wood breaks, and Sasha groans, hitting the ground.

I don’t want to die. I force my tongue past my lips and do my best to wet the duct tape on my mouth to make it lose some of its tackiness and it starts to work. I feel a little space open between my lips and the duct tape and I seize what might be my only opportunity. “JULIAN! HELP! IT’S CARTER!” I scream as loud as I possibly can. Carter yanks my head back and presses the knife hard against my throat, his eyes staring down at me wild and furious. “You bitch!”

The realization in Henry’s mom of fear, but not for her, for her family was showing in her face. “MOM!” Shouted out Henry “Run Henry! Run!” Henry’s Dad yelled as he tried to reach his wife. However, he was held down by 4 more vampires. Henry ran as fast as he could. Mara was not bothered by Henry’s departure. She was to be occupied by having to strong adults she could turn instead. Once she drained the blood out of Henry’s Mom, she dropped her to the ground and set her fangs on Henry’s Dad. Henry heard him say one last thing. “Henry Run and don’t look back!”

Adrian just grinned and flicked Tara’s forehead, noticing that his cousin seemed uneasy. “Welcome back!” he said cheerfully, giving Tara a peck on the cheek, but stopped when he noticed that she seemed to be in a bad mood. “What’s wrong?” he asked. Tara shook her head and let out a deep sigh. “Carrie left me. Damn. I don’t know where she’s going!” Tara started to pace, feeling the panic setting in. “What if something happens to her? What if she runs into our family’s enemies, and they find out she’s Mama Scarlett’s daughter? What if she gets kidnapped? What if…!”

Black smoke burst from the exhaust while the rear tires screeched against the gravel. “Chatrine!” Liam shouted in panic. But instead of stopping, Chatrine leaned halfway out the window and shouted back even louder. “I’m borrowing it for a while!” Then she slammed harder on the gas pedal. The pickup dove forward, spun sharply, and shot out of the parking lot trailing clouds of exhaust smoke behind it. “Oh, God…” Liam grabbed his head, his face pale with horror. He knew perfectly well that a woman like Chatrine was entirely incompatible with an old pickup truck that drove like an angry bull.

Before he could even comprehend what was happening, I slammed my fist into his face, all my anger pouring into the punch. Scarlett stirred at the noise, her hand coming to her head as she slowly woke up. As she opened her eyes and took in the scene, her face twisted in horror, her own scream filling the room. She scrambled back, clutching the sheets around her, utterly lost and disoriented. Clay and Maxwell burst into the room, their expressions turning grim as they took in the scene. Clay went straight to Scarlett, who clung to him, crying, her body wracked with sobs.

The surface was cold and relieving against her feverish skin even as Damon yanked up the hem of her skater dress and tore her panties right off her. Yes! Yes! This is what I need!
