“It wasn’t a dog.” I froze. Not outwardly. Not enough for anyone to notice. My face stayed neutral, professional. Inside, the old fear snapped to attention. “What did you see?” I asked softly. She swallowed, throat bobbing. Tears leaked sideways into her hair. “Eyes,” she rasped. “Gold… like, like fire.” My hands paused over the gauze. My breath caught, silent. Gold eyes. Not a myth. Not a dream. Real. A nurse leaned in, peering at the wound. “It’s ragged. Looks like tearing.” The woman flinched at the word tearing, as if it slapped her. My skin prickled.

The scene in front of them made everyone extremely shocked. Grand Pure Emperor's eyes flashed with cold light. He took a step forward and said, "The real gold is like a rainbow, endless cutting!" Every word sounded like hundreds of millions of pieces of metal colliding and weapons clashing. The countless arms behind him attacked again. Suddenly, the infinite world was broken. A tragic book slowly appeared in the broken void. The book was made of bamboo slips. Its surface was mottled, and blood oozed out of it. It emanated an incomparably brutal and murderous aura, as if it were the source of all the slaughter in the world.

“Why does this keep happening to me?!” Something was going on behind me, but I couldn’t hear it; I just felt the air being sucked out of my lungs. I gasped, not knowing what had happened, as I turned to see the faces of people I didn’t recognize. Or did I? One of the men was trying to say something, their mouth was moving, but nothing was coming out. “What?” I shouted, making him flinch. “Let her go!” He finally shouted over the loud noises. “No!” I pulled Isabella tighter to my chest, “I won’t!” I used my free hand to shove him away, knocking him back onto his ass. “I won’t let another one of you monsters hurt her! You’ve done enough!” I tugged Isabella’s lifeless body into my lap and stare

The thin sheet of paper trembled in the silence for a long time, like the final echo of a departing voice. Tears finally broke free from Marcel's lashes and splashed onto the letter, landing atop tear stains that had already dried there. "Cedric..." Marcel's fingers tightened around the page until his knuckles turned white. Delilah stared at the neat handwriting covering the letter, her chest filling with an indescribable ache. The man who had always listened to them, who had grinned foolishly and declared himself the happiest person in the world, had been forced by their betrayal to grow wings.

Darryl’s smile fades as he looked at his brown eyes, remembering the first time he really looked into them. “What’s wrong?” Goldie asks as he shows Darryl the book. “You really want that?” He asked again, taking the book from his hands, “You could’ve chosen Harry Potter or something.” “Yes, I want this,” Goldie replies shortly. Darryl looks at the book cover and looks back at Goldie. “I guess it suits you.” After paying for their items, the two males exit the bookstore. Darryl looks at his phone’s clock and realized that it was almost time for lunch. He turns to Goldie and asks,

At first, as I entered the secret, soundproof, room behind one of Luna Lannie’s paintings, I was crying mainly because of the things Ben had said. It crushed me so badly, hearing how little he thought of me, even though it wasn’t anything I didn’t already know. Just hearing it from him, however, seemed to hurt that much more. However, soon after I removed my cloths and was shackled in place, my tears were for a whole different reason.

Worse, the pain that we mutually feel causes my closed eyes to tear, and before I can stop it, numerous pearls of tears stream down my cheeks. Out of reflex, I raise my hand, intending to wipe my tears. It is then I discover that I can now move my hand. Not only can I move my hand, I unintentionally get my eyes open as soon as my fingers make contact with my tears, awaken by it, and am greeted by a realization that everything I feel earlier just belongs to a mere dream as I still find myself sitting on the same spot I occupy. I made a quick check on my surroundings and then move my baffled look to the wet tips of my finger, staring at them blankly.

I shouted, "Davon, don't let go, okay? You're going to be free!" But the gold dust hovered on us and covered Davon's body, dragging him back in. The energy was so strong that it also pulled us. "Mia, let go!" Theo yelled. When I almost reach the notebook, Davon let go of my hand—staring at me with pleading eyes. "Mia!" Davon screamed as the notebook swallowed him in. The notebook floated again. Glowing like fire, the gold dust circled it, creating a whirlwind until all the pages reverted. It fell on the floor and returned to its usual form as if nothing had happened.

"I could stay here all day." After a few minutes of wondering, she reached the very end of the maze. It was a golden bookshelf. The sight of gold made her roll her eyes. She really hopes that all these are fake gold, or else she might lose her mind or use her little hair clip to chip the back of this bookcase a bit and bring the shavings back home. "Even a book?" She chuckled when a golden book caught her attention. Sure, it was black. But who would title their book, "Golden Goldie Gold"?
