Sandra’s POV The others had gone inside, but I stayed. The garden was too peaceful to leave; especially with the smell of roses everywhere. I did not expect anyone else to be there until I heard a soft voice behind me. “You like roses, do you not?” “I… do. They remind me of home.” “Ah, then your home must have been beautiful.” “Not really. My mother loved orchids. Roses were not… her thing.” “Orchids are elegant, but roses are honest. They bleed when you touch them, but they still bloom.”

It was the best work she had done in months. "You should have seen the Sellwood bouquet," she said. "Garden roses, ranunculus, a little jasmine vine wired through the whole thing. I took pictures. I wanted to send them to mum…." She stopped. Neither of them spoke for a moment. Rosalind did not rush to fill the silence, nor did she pretend it had not happened. "She would have loved it," Rosalind said finally. "She was unbearable about ranunculus. She used to buy them and then forbid anyone in the house from touching the vase."

I blinked in astonishment as delicate buds formed at the tips of the tendrils, slowly unfurling to reveal vibrant red roses. My heart skipped a beat as I realized what was happening. Joy filled me. I could still see the garden in my mind. I felt his warmth at my side. The roses continued to grow, their petals unfurling in a mesmerizing dance. I lost sense of where I was and sound as I watched the rose bush grow. The roses swayed gently, their vibrant colors a testament to the strength of my emotions. Then, I realized that the rose bush I had envisioned was this one.

The winter roses were in full bloom, their petals glowing silver under the moon, frost edging their thorns like delicate lace. Liera gasped as they stepped into the clearing. “Wow… I had only heard of them. Never seen them.” The frozen roses stretched before them, their blooms perfect and ethereal, silver frost sparkling on every petal. The garden was a hidden jewel of Ravencrest, a place few were allowed to enter. Ryke had come here often when the weight of his duties grew too heavy.
