As soon as the burning substance enters my mouth I immediately gag, having me force myself to finish the shot. They both celebrate in satisfaction before passing the bottle amongst one another. As the two of them continue to take their shots I find myself checking my phone off of instinct, seeing that Jack still hadn't messaged me. I immediately unlock my phone before going back into our messages in order to send him one last text. To Mine🖤: hey baby, I just moved into Jo's. Please text me when you get these. I love you. Not delivered Frustration begins to build back into my chest as my text still won't deliver.

Half a month later, in the middle of the night, my phone buzzed with a message. It was from Lex. [Audrey, I'm sorry.] I stared at it for a moment, then put the phone down. I didn't reply. Our story had ended long ago. I closed that chapter. From now on, our lives will go their own way—like two roads that'll never cross again.

And because I wanted the surprise to hit harder, I told myself I wouldn’t text him. At all. Just for today. It sounded cute in my head. In real life? It felt like torture. School – Morning Kendra linked her arm through mine as we walked inside. “No texting him,” she reminded me. “I know.” “No calling.” “I KNOW.” “Good. Keep the suspense.” I tried. Really tried. Then halfway through first period, my phone started vibrating. A lot. Like someone set it on fire. Kendra glanced at her phone. Her face dropped instantly.

Was about to reply, when another text popped up. Unknown number 💬: Need me to remind your little ex why he never should’ve messed with my ice-tongued princess?

The one she’d booked three weeks ago after we’d finally said the words out loud: “I need to see you in person.” We’d met in the most ordinary place possible, a subreddit for amateur writers. She’d posted a short story about a girl who was terrified of being touched. I left a comment that was kinder than most. She replied, I replied. One year later we were texting every single day, voice notes at 2 a.m., video calls where she’d hide half her face behind a pillow because she was shy about her smile.

I text back a single word. Yes.

Mom says with his sweet voice, I smiled and nodded at her. I sat beside Shayne and grabbed my phone to text Shia to tell her that I’m going back tomorrow. Shayne already sent me my pictures, I checked it, well I won’t deny the fact that she’s also good in photography. She’s so talented and smart, no wonder a lot of guys likes her. I saved all my pictures, I can see my sando and short-shorts inside of my thin dress in the picture, and I just picked one picture to send it to Shia.

Even in great hesitation, she started typing a message to Vincent. To: Vincent Hi, I want to tell you something. After sending the message she put the phone down on her chest while waiting for Vincent to reply. It took about three minutes before Vincent finally replied. From: Vincent Tell. She rolled her eyes. This is her first time having a conversation with Vincent through texting and she didn't know he's this lazy to type. Nevertheless, she still types a reply to him. To: Vincent So... I just downloaded the I*******m application because I want to post a selfie. But I swear I deleted the app as soon as I posted it.
