Chapter 1 Thalia’s pov “I don't know what to do, Mira…” I said with a defeated sigh, “... he finally heard the faint click of her bedroom latch. He turned around, prepared to tease her for taking forever only to forget how to speak for half a second. Thalia stepped out slowly, nervously adjusting the hem of her pleated beige skirt as if trying to hide in it. She wore a soft ivory cropped cardigan over a sky-blue satin cami, paired with white platform sneakers and ruffled ankle socks. Her hair was half-up with a cream ribbon tying it loosely, a few strands framing her cheeks in a way that made her look almost too soft for the world.

Thalia’s eyes shot open, shock and disbelief flooding her pale face. Alpha Leif thrust his phone in front of her, the audio playing loudly. “Look at what you’ve done.” Thalia froze as her own confession filled the room. Her body trembled as the reality of her betrayal hit her. Then, with a broken sob, she begged. “Alpha Leif , please! You have to believe me! This is all Selene’s doing! She’s trying to ruin me! She must have faked the recording!”

She tossed her phone across the room and lay on the bed. She wondered how he got her number in the first place because she was certain she changed everything after she left him. Anyway, he was Alessandro De Luca. He could get whatever he wanted with only the snap of his finger. Thalia sighed. She couldn't escape him, even if she wanted to. It wasn't even an option for her. She believed it was best she went to see what he wanted. And she didn't need to think of what he was going to say to her as well because everything would be centred on Arabella.

“I didn’t have sex with him today.” “Then… what did you guys do?” Thalia leaned back, closing her eyes. "I got the contract. I’m his exclusive now. No more other men. I serve him alone whenever he calls, and in exchange, he pays whatever I ask." Gigi’s brow furrowed. "Whenever he calls? Thalia, that sounds like... like you’re a prisoner." Thalia closed her eyes, forcing the memory down into the darkest corner of her mind. She inhaled deeply, intentionally filling her lungs with the sterile, metallic scent of the city’s concrete. She reached into her pocket, pulled out her phone, and stared at Maya’s name on the screen. With a steady hand and a cold, definitive breath, Thalia turned the device completely off,

I snapped my eyes open and I saw Thalia being tied to a chair, a massive creature stood in front of her as she struggled. I stood transfixed, my body rooted to the ground and I felt so helpless. The monster ripped her belly open and pulled the baby out of her womb, and she growled with a loud animalistic cry. Before she passed out, her eyes bleeding, she muttered something barely audible but I read her lips repeating after her, “Varu’sen thalex”— “you are next.” I was trying to understand what the language meant when the monster turned to me, carrying my baby in his bleeding hands, it growled loudly and its mouth started expanding widely and swallowed my child right in front of me.

“Who is he?” “My mate.” she lowly whispers, “He said he wouldn't be available and is traveling in another country but he's here.” Thalia looks awfully comfortable with the foreign man, this isn't the depressed girl Mariella has been painting her out to be. If anything she looks happy, content with what she has done to my daughter and I. “I'll call him.” Mariella snarls, dailing his contact but I don't see her, I'm too busy watching Thalia with a building rage.
