My throat worked hard, and I glanced at Hailey, clinging to my arm. Hailey wasn't only the woman who'd saved my life in the fire. She was carrying my own flesh and blood now. The languid charm dissolved in an instant, giving way to the oppressive presence of an Alpha King. Mr. Wulfric issued a warning, "Claude, if you insist on taking Heather away, I don't mind starting a war." Claude's face turned ashen. Under everyone's watchful eyes, he walked away with his guards like a complete fool. What did it matter if he was outranked? He thought we had a decade-long foundation, a bond forged through life-and-death struggles. That was something Silas, an Alpha King born with a silver spoon, could never compete with.

I grimaced and held HIS hand. He looked at me and I shook my head at him while crying. HE closed his eyes controlling himself from bursting out. He retreated but pushed me ahead lightly.
