Bannon's avatar was nowhere to be seen in the coliseum when Wilbur opened his eyes again, and only one of Bannon's three clones was left. Bannon sputtered as he coughed up blood. "What cultivation method is this, and how is it so powerful? I feel like my powers were drained in the blink of an eye… No, something this powerful shouldn't exist! That's impossible!" Wilbur snapped back to his senses when he heard Bannon's ramblings. The power of light represented brightness, and all things good would be empowered by it. On the other hand, all evil would be struck down by the power of light.

The small vial shimmered with a distant cerulean hue, illuminated by the light of the sporadic lighting. My eyes widened at the sight of the vial. It was known as the Wolf’s Bane—the potent bane of our kind, capable of weakening even the greatest wolf. My heart pounded. How was Boris able to obtain Wolf's Bane? And how did he manage to bring it into the Games without getting caught?

Now, I was all alone with Argon and Estelle, the power couple. They both had their eyes at me, looking at me from head to toe with disgust in their gazes. "Look at their ugly faces. Just one slash across it and they'll have a sexy bloody face. Haha," Bane mocked within. My mouth almost broke out with laughter, imagining how their face would look like, all bloody and fleshy. But these two were busy insulting me, mostly Estelle.

I cried, not able to say the words were rising in my throat; I didn't want any of this to be accurate; trapped inside a nightmare that I cannot awake. "I know," Bane said; he softly stroked my cheek, and I looked up at him shocked; he smiled softly at me; the sky was black and full of stars. The moonlight hit his face, suddenly showing his bright blue eyes; his face chiseled to perfection, his dirty blonde hair was tousled and thick.

They keep closing the circle. Bane suddenly steps slightly closer to me. His voice is low and serious.“Be careful.” I glance at him. “What do you mean? They're common Rogues?” “These are not normal stray rogues.” My eyes move back to the creatures surrounding us. “I can feel it, Alpha Cane.”His tone is completely different now. “They are something else.” I frown.“What the fuck?” The creatures growl louder now. Their teeth flash under the dim marsh light. Bane’s voice becomes even quieter.“I think they are…”

My eyes widened, scanning the swirling white vapor. Slowly, a towering, massive figure materialized out of the fog, walking directly toward me. It was Bane. A momentary wave of relief washed over me, but it vanished instantly when he stepped into the dim light of the vanity mirror. His eyes weren't calm. They were pitch-black, blown wide with a dark, primal and incredibly serious look as if I were a threat that had just breached his final line of defense. As the fog swirled and parted around him, my breath completely left my body. My jaw dropped, my jade-green eyes stretching to their absolute limits.

It hurt so badly that I broke out in cold sweat and pulled myself into a fetal position, shivering hard under my blankets. I thought of getting something to drink and got up, carelessly making my way downstairs to the kitchen. The lights in the living room weren't turned on. However, I caught sight of a dark figure sitting on the couch in the darkness. It was Leonard. He sat on the couch without moving a muscle. He was holding a cigarette between his fingers, the faint glow flickering in the dark. I didn't dare to make a sound and thought of retreating as quietly as possible. "Since you're already up, you might as well come over."

The shield closed, and we were left to wait outside. An hour passed. Then two. In the third hour, the circle began to flicker with an unnatural light, a color that didn't belong in a proper healing ritual. Martha gripped my arm nervously. "That light… something's wrong." Elder Thomas's face grew grim. "She's using the wrong herbal combination. If this continues, it will—" His words were cut off by a guttural, animalistic scream. The sound was completely inhuman, filled with pain, despair, and… an unspeakable horror.

Darren was still going at it, trying to win an argument that I had checked out of a long time ago. I turned him out, turned on my heel, and headed for the door. However, before I stepped out, I threw a glance over my shoulder and replied calmly, "Just so you know, I've got the Bond Dissolution Ceremony at the Moon Goddess Temple set for three days from now. We'll go our separate ways after that, so don't be late." The moment I was gone, Darren's composure crumbled into chaos. He racked his brain but came up empty.

The pain is unbearable, but somewhere deep within it, I understand—it isn’t the light destroying me, it’s the poison burning out of me. Every piece of darkness Baron left behind is turning to ash.
