Chapter 46: The battle continues The two armies clashed in a frenzy of steel and magic. Emilia and Arachne faced off, their eyes locked in a fierce stare. Liam materialized beside her, a gasp escaping his lips. They were no longer in the desolate chamber. Instead, they stood in a vast cavern, its walls adorned with intricate murals that pulsed with an otherworldly luminescence. The murals depicted scenes unlike anything they had ever seen – celestial beings locked in an epic battle, landscapes of unimaginable beauty and desolation, and symbols that mirrored the inscription from the labyrinth.

Labrys marks—double axes—glimmered where water ran down grooves older than empires. Cables snaked along the ground, feeding rows of lamps that pushed the dark only so far. The air tasted of oil, hot metal, and men who worked too long. Stephanos slipped inside, keeping low, a mouse that knew the hawks by name.

Lilith's light faltered, confused by the maze's twists and turns. Undeterred, Lilith focused her energy, creating a beacon of light that pierced through the illusions, dispelling the maze. Lord Varnaak snarled, his control wavering. The battle raged on, with both combatants exchanging blows. Lilith’s light clashed with lord Varnaak’s darkness, each one pushing the other to their limits. I averted my gaze from him and just focused on Archmaster. “The Grand Festival Fight is composed only of two rounds. The first round of the will be held in the Labyrinth of Phantasm. And the second round will be on the newly constructed Battle Arena. We have constructed the Labyrinth of Phantasm just for this event. Each team will enter the labyrinth at its different gates…” Archmaster stopped for a moment when an hologram image formed on the air and it showed the whole layout of the labyrinth. It’s like a 3-dimensional map for that matter.

“You vampires only think about yourselves. That’s why the labyrinth made this test, because it knew betrayal was inevitable.” The vampires snarled, clearly not pleased by the accusation, but they could do little as the witches’ magic held them fast. The witch boy turned his attention to the pedestal, studying the glowing runes with practiced focus. “The labyrinth doesn’t want us to fight to the death,” he said. “It wants us to prove we can make hard choices. If we pick the right door, we all might have a chance to survive.” “And if you pick the wrong one?” Damian asked, his tone dripping with venom.

It vibrated through the ground, through the air, through the bones of everyone who stood before the fortress. "The ritual," Morgana breathed. Her ancient face was pale. "She has started. We are almost too late." "Then we stop her." Lena turned to her army. Her voice rang out across the field, clear and strong. "Wolves, take the walls. Vampires, secure the gates. Hybrids, with me.
