The flames in the bonfire, which were merely embers, suddenly caught, and in the blink of an eye an arc of fire shot up to the sky, setting the whole place alight so that for one split second it looked like we were in the middle of an afternoon.
Heat washed over my skin as the flames arced higher and higher, and then I heard the thunderous cheers of my pack members as they beat their feet into the earthen floors and clapped, chanting for the Moon Goddess a
