Chapter 73 Part 1 ‘”Oh my gosh!” I turn into a stone when Cassie collapsed on the floor and I couldn’t do much as I’m holding a baby on my hand and I just stare at her helpless body, and when I look at the man who hit her, he turn stiff too while looking at Cassie's body. “Move!” Kiel scream so loudly that it we snap back from reality. He immediately start calling someone on the phone while examining Cassie, when he was done doing that he then look at me.

“Please tell me that’s a portal and not, like, the trash compactor for souls.” “Given our luck?” Grant muttered. “Probably both.” The librarian convulsed again. Without its heart‑book, it couldn’t hold its shape. Its remaining limbs collapsed inward, chains tangling, volumes crashing together in a chaotic heap. The monstrous skull of reference books toppled sideways, jaw slamming into the drift with an undignified *thunk*. The whole mass sank to one knee, then the other, then all at once, folding into itself like a building imploding.

The others hesitated, hissing, as if they had never faced this kind of power before. “Selene!” Fenrir shouted again, but this time there was awe in his voice. I felt my chest tighten. The book pulsed stronger, almost as if it was alive. Each step I took, the light followed, pushing the creatures back. One lunged at me again—I slammed the book against it, and it disintegrated. Winter cheered. “Mother! That’s amazing!”

I continue to smash and destroy everything within reach, each crash and clatter echoing the turmoil in my mind. A framed picture of Graham and me, once a symbol of our partnership, now feels like a mockery. I grab it and throw it with all my might, watching as it shatters into fragments. The glass cuts my hand, but I barely feel it through the haze of rage and despair. The bookshelf is next. I yank books from the shelves, flinging them across the room. The titles blur together as they hit the walls and floor with dull thuds. The room, once a place of order and control, is now a chaotic mess, mirroring the ruin of my life.

Don't look at me, blame mills and boon. I picked up one book with a superb and sexy looking cover titled; Bound by honour by Cora Reiley. She's one of my favourite writers and I only have a few. She write so well and her smuts are over the moon. I head back to the sitting room and returned to my former position before flipping the book open. Just as I was about flipping to the next page, a loud noise erupted my peace. I sat up quickly and listened for a few seconds, forcing my panick at the back of my mind.

I asked stretching my right hand intending to collect the Red colored hard cover book, it was named Register, a book where all records of borrowed and Returned books are kept so without Signing on the book I won't be allowed to leave the library with the book. She Hesistated a little before she finally gave the book to me. " Still, you shouldn't be borrowing novels every time like this " she said and I shrugged " Whatever " I said as I took the book and signed my name after which I left the library. Mina being a bully is a Well known fact but I can't possibly let her bully me as we are Mates. ' Just because she's a library Prefect doesn't give her the right to bully me '

With that, he gave me a cold look, then turned and walked back into Fiona’s hospital room without looking back. My heart froze as his cold back disappeared. I heard him gently comfort Fiona. I could not believe Nigel thought I was a bad person, even though he had no proof at all. I rubbed my sore eyes and was about to leave when Jora came out. She leaned close to me with a smug smile. “So what if you’re his crush? You still lose to people like us. “If you’re smart, go inside, kneel, and apologize to Fiona. Maybe Nigel would like you a little more.”

The book slipped slightly in my hand. And everything went dark.

A book fell from a bookshelf before the shelves’ bottom support succumbed and books cascaded down into a pile. In the living room, another narrow crack snaked across the ceiling. The ceiling creaked, its cracks spreading, until it came apart. Several cardboard boxes from the attic crashed down into the living room floor.
