AUTHOR'S P.O.V. In the shrouded shadows of the night, a formidable black wolf, with fur as dark as the abyss, prowled stealthily through the underbrush. Its eyes, glowing with a fierce, infernal red, were fixed intently on the men stationed outside the building. Despite its lupine form, it exuded a commanding presence over the armed men in their human guise. The wolf, driven by a singular purpose, was here for one individual – a target it was resolutely determined to eliminate this very night.

“Two bodies were dragged from the shallows of Bloodmoon Lake this morning. Both were young male wolves. One has been identified as a scout from the Midrealm Territories. The other was Corwin Blackmaw. He was only seventeen. Fragments of his shredded pack tunic were still tangled in his fur when they pulled him from the sacred moonwater.” I buried my face in my hands, a low, broken growl tearing through my chest. They took a young wolf’s future and ripped it away. How could they commit such a crime on sacred territory! A growl rumbled through the realm. My breath hitched. That wasn’t Kaelen. That was the wolf. The corrupted version of him. The monster the seer had forced forward. A creature made of darkness, rage, and hunger. I took a step forward— And the world trembled. Something massive crawled out of the shadows. Silver fur. Black veins. Eyes as dark as an abyss. The Dark Wolf. My mate’s wolf… twisted. Its lips peeled back in a snarl. A sound that rattled the stones beneath my feet.

Being a black wolf would be an excellent addition to their family since they are dark wolves. A dark wolf is a mix of brown and black and is known for being outstanding in combat. But also to show cruelty and lack of empathy. Dark wolves are the second toughest race after mine. In other words, they wanted me to be a f*cking breed dog for their lineage. We're ruthless wolves at the top of the food chain. But we're protecting ours, our pack, and we have empathy for ours. Birsha's son, Orfeo, is five years older than me. He is enormous, taller than most other boys while growing up, and he has seen a reputation for being cold and ruthless.

The werewolf came, its feet hitting the ground mercilessly as its hands joined in its movement. It broke out from the woods, tearing off the leaves of the trees with less effort, and growling at the sight of the man. “You can't take anyone from my family.!” Mark grinned as he shifted under the bright moonlight. His bones cracked, and his skin stretched beyond its limits, tearing to become as tough as that of a wolf. He growled at the phantom, just as the phantom growled at him. Like two behemoths, they collided, and the green grasses on the ground fell victim to their battle.

Not Kaden. Not Kael. Not the stranger. Not Darius. This wolf was bigger than anything I had ever seen. Tall as the ceiling. Fur dark as eclipsed midnight. Eyes glowing like molten gold. Its gaze locked on me. Then on the Dark King. And the wolf spoke. “She is not yours.”

Liam and the allied Alphas formed a protective wedge around us, fighting with brutal efficiency. I shifted as well, Rex a roaring surge of power within me, my fur shimmering with the faint elemental glow. My paws pounded the corrupted earth, carrying me swiftly towards the heart of the darkness. As we neared the vortex, a colossal, twisted wolf emerged from its depths. Its fur was black as pitch, its eyes glowing with malevolent green light, and tendrils of dark energy snaked from its paws, attempting to grasp and drain the life from our warriors. This was their leader, the epitome of their corrupted power.

“You should know, you have caught the eye of a very special wolf.” My brow furrows, but I don’t feed into it. No one loves the dark; in the end, they always seek out the light. “This particular wolf can not be reborn and placed within a human vessel on earth. He has been touched by darkness, too much to be cleansed. He has just the right amount to survive your desires and realm, but the right amount of purity to stay the course and never challenge for more. He is an Alpha wolf, who also only seeks a love of his own.”

Lucien muttered. I answered the call and pressed it closer to my ear. “I have something to tell you.” My mother’s trembling voice echoed from the other end of the line. I sat upright on the bed. “And what is that?” “It’s about your father. You didn’t discover your wolf all this time because he cast a spell to keep it hidden. You have a really powerful wolf and he saw you as a threat.” “Wait wait, this is a lot. What are you trying to say?” I asked, my heart pounding in my chest.

“My beloved.” Cold washes over me as Nyxara steps from the shadows like a nightmare taking shape. She looks divine, terrible, and furious all rolled into one. Her gown looks like it was woven from the night sky, and her eyes burn the same violet shade as my wolf’s, except twisted into something cruel. “Get away from him,” I snarl, pulling Kael against my chest. Nyxara smiles. It’s the kind of smile wolves make before biting. “Oh, little wolf,” she purrs. “You think you can keep what belongs to me?”
