He stormed out without another word. The door slammed behind him. I waited until the echo faded before pulling my phone out again. Still no reply from Adeline. She’d read it, I was sure of it. But she hadn’t said anything back. The little Canary that makes me even more intrigued. She wasn’t just some drunk girl who made a mistake. She knew what she was doing. She looked me in the eye and dared me to cross the line—and when I did, she didn’t flinch. And now she was hiding?

Every motion carried a sense of liveliness, yet a dull ache lingered in her chest, knowing that with every passing day, their separation drew closer. As she stood on a small chair to adjust the edge of the curtain, the wind outside suddenly howled. A freezing draft seeped through the window right along with it. Without waiting for a reply, she walked away and into the Cab. Madeline had an unspeakable expression on her face as she peered at Adeline's before she strutted to her class. Not long after, a cab pulled over at the center of the city. Adeline stepped down from the Cab after paying the transport fare. She crossed over to the other side of the road and stopped at a gorgeous building.

She put the phone and the handbag on the seat beside her and started driving. ***** Adeline was in the kitchen cooking. She was wearing singlet and used head bunt. She was living a normal life and happy with it. “Can it be Prey that called me few minutes ago that is knocking at the door?” She asked herself as she was hearing knocks at the door.
