Lucian’s voice cut through the stillness. “Let this summit bear witness,” he said, his tone carrying across every corner of the hall. Aurelia felt it again his hand brushing hers, not gripping, not forcing. Choosing. Standing with her. The balance of power had shifted and everyone knew it. The silence breaks. The tension snaps and before anyone can challenge it Lucian steps forward. His voice echoes through the summit, cold and absolute: “Aurelia Nightbane…” A pause. The entire world holding its breath. “…will stand as Queen Candidate of the Lycan throne.”

He cast an annoyed glance at Carina. “And since when are you the judge of that, Lucas? Didn't I tell you to be my eyes and ears while I recuperate? Is what Carina saying true or not?” He pressed his eyes together painfully; his shoulders sagged like a wilting plant. “Yes. Carina's right. Ashley is now the new Lycan Queen, married and mated to the Lycan King Zane Leventis.” My left eye twitched. “Get out, Carina.”

The very stone beneath their feet seemed to tremble beneath the force of it. Aliyah did not move. The Shaman lowered the crown and placed it gently on her head. The weight of it landed softly, but its meaning struck hard. Queen. When the Shaman stepped back, the silence shattered. The voices around her rose louder. A thousand howls joined as one.
