The sound of water gently lapping against the shelves provided a soothing ambiance, creating a serene atmosphere that encouraged deep contemplation and study. As they ventured deeper into the library, Tritan, Finrir, Nerissa, Madissa, Bryan, and Joe found themselves surrounded by rows upon rows of books. The sheer volume of knowledge contained within those pages was awe-inspiring. Each book seemed to hold the answers to countless mysteries, waiting to be discovered by those who sought enlightenment.

The lift carried me to the fourth floor. I walked the corridors with deliberate purpose, keeping my head down. Through swing doors, I caught glimpses of the newsroom—desks cluttered with paper, phones ringing, voices overlapping. Every so often, my leg stiffened, locking momentarily before swinging forward again, as though braced in a splint. The librarian was in her sixties, with dyed hair and half-moon glasses hanging from a chain around her neck. A rubber thimble covered her thumb, used for turning pages. Her desk was surrounded by an unlikely collection of cacti.

“As you well know, this part of the castle gets minimal traffic and this room gives them no reason to enter.” Looking around at the barely furnished room, Lila nodded her head. Making her way to one of the two antique occasional chairs that were placed haphazardly near the charred and lonely looking fireplace, she seated herself and prepared for whatever was to come. As she headed out the door, Mirabella stopped and said, “I mean it. If I’m not back in fifteen minutes, I’m not coming and get to your room before you’re missed.” “And if you do come back with the child?” Lila asked.

The library was huge, stretching two stories, filled with rare leather-bound volumes and banned books that I was amazed to see were in existence. I started at the bottom shelf, my fingers running over the spines. Observing everything. I was looking for anything related to fire, old records, or criminal history. Anything to connect the phoenix pendant to the men who killed my parents. An hour into the work, the library door opened, and Lucian walked in. He looked even more severe than yesterday, his face pale and drawn. He was holding a stack of files and moved with a careful, almost stiff slowness. "Elara." Paris drank until the librarian’s body gave in and he laid the librarian down gently. “I need more,” Paris said, sealing his bite marks on the librarian’s neck. “Really?” Soraya questioned. “Yes,” Paris said, smiling, as she did not change one bit. Soraya turned to go get another human. “Excuse me, the librarian collapsed in the history section. Can you come to help me?” Soraya asked the first person she saw.

The realization made her cheeks warm, a mixture of embarrassment and something softer, more tender. As the afternoon light slanted golden through the library's high windows, Lila found herself looking forward to Saturday with a cautious optimism. Giving her an apologetic look he began rummaging through it releasing a sneeze as what looked like years of dust filled the room. Elaina slammed the drawer she was looking in and opened another. Sitting in the drawer was not what Elaina had expected a librarian to have, two small daggers with ruby inlays laid still looking brand new. Another dagger with what looked dangerously like blood sat above them. Cringing Elaina shut the drawer and began on the ones on the other side. Elaina came up empty handed finishing with the desk, she looked to Chase hoping he had found something but he gave her a shrug.

*Kendrick Pov* I paced around the library and ruffled my hair more thinking about what happened just now. This is what that should happen and not a thing can change this. "Kendrick! Our warriors are waiting for your order to go on a war on Kingdom of Velimar." I heard Uncle's voice when he entered the Library. "We need to take some more time before doing that Uncle."
