"Checking out the building. In the daytime, it is packed. They seem to operate in two shifts, probably starting around 6am, and most have left by 9pm. That is when it is just the night staff. From the people who arrived after 8pm, it's about 50 total. That number probably drops to 40 after midnight as some where clearers" We stay up the rest of the night developing a plan. Tomorrow at 1am, we strike.

I slowly walked towards the hospital while trying to fight off my sleepiness, I couldn't let sleepiness win especially since I was transferred to the night shift. I could already see the tall hospital building and the people in the waiting area, the ambulance at the entrance to the ER, and the families crying and taking care of the paperwork for the morgue. "Yhra, is it your shift?" the guard at the table joked at me as I approached for my time card. "Yes, it's my first day on the night shift. It's all of a sudden," I replied then he checked my bag and gestured for me to be okay.

But I believed him. In the third month of my tenure, the director called me into his office and said that due to the shortage of medical staff, they were short on personnel for the night shifts. He insisted that working night shifts was an essential experience if I wanted to become vice-director. I believed him and accepted without hesitation. That night, I finished my rounds around eleven o'clock and was passing by the break room when I heard something... unusual. It was a sound I knew well. But now, hearing it in the break room, my mind raced.

He moved up to the door and squinted out into the night. August looked out at the towering creature with black fur, which didn’t look their way, as Rufus slowly mouthed the words, “He is.”

“Where are you going?” “New York,” he said. “I’m flying out tonight and I won’t be back until next week.” Steven’s job as an automotive engineer carried him to different parts of the world, but mostly kept him busy at night. He had to keep an eye on the nightshift to make sure that the assembly line ran smoothly. Steven was the go-to person, and since he was the lower executive, he got stuck with third shift. The plant ran at all hours of the day and night. Someone needed to be there at all times, and on the night shift, Steven was that man. “Fine,” I said, taking off my coat as I let out a deep breath. “Just let me call the hospital to let them know.”

Never simultaneously. We were devastated in the morning."We require a system," I stated. My first shift will be from 10 PM to 2 AM. You take second shift. 2 AM to 6 AM." "Then we're both getting four-ish hours?" "Better than nothing." It worked. Barely. However, we made it through.

Malcolm crossed his arms and scowled at the woman. She touched Aya on the shoulder. "If there is anything you need, you let me know. I'm either here or at Baaltech every night." "You work at night?" Aya asked. "The facility is open 24/7, but I prefer the night shift." Elizabeth waved a hand in the air, her perfect fingernails painted a glossy, dark red. "The day shift is far too noisy, all those trucks coming and going. You can hardly hear yourself think."

**Isabella's POV** The night shift at Charité always felt like stepping into a different world — quieter corridors, softer lights, the kind of hush that made every beep of a monitor and every squeak of a shoe sound louder than it should. As much as I heard and knew weird things always happen at night, Tuesday to this friday was great.

My attention is divided between the double doors for new customers and Sonya, just to have her back. I rest my elbows on the counter. The day shift, less chaotic than the night shift, produces fewer tips. It’s just Sonya, Pascal, and me. Most of the other staff, half a dozen of them, work the night shift. Music drones low in the noir space with its dark shadows and matte surfaces. Then a bell chimes softly as the doors open, and two young girls walk in. Finally, some actual work. I circle the counter as the girls settle into their table.

" Slidell jumped a little from his seat and coughed. "What?" Ace unconsciously bit his lips, anticipating Slidell's answer. But once again, he hoped that he just read the book he found on Slidell's bookshelf, collecting dust. "Because everyone would plan a date in the morning, right? So, for a change, I set a date at night. So we can see the city lights." - "Listen, at night, most of the people who work in the organization either sleep in the room or go home and take their second identity, that's about an hour or two and then they'll go back to the organization to continue their work."
