Chapter 4: Night Shift Heat Tyler Brooks felt the cool night breeze cut across the unfinished twenty-eighth floor as the overnight shift dragged on, the distant hum of generators and occasional sparks from welding below mixing with the endless glow of the city lights spread out like a glittering sea far beneath them. the night shift was basically from around 6pm to 1/2 when most customers stopped coming and all after which we’d close up and go sleep in our separate rooms in the hotel. On that fateful night, there wasn’t much to do and we had very slow traffic so we sat in the main restaurant watching big brother. Oh, how she hated cleaning the oven! After making sure that her kitchen was spotless, she prepared the ingredients for tomorrow’s orders. She made sure they’re organized on the workstation.
