The shadow whispered before pulling the trigger. A loud bang echoed in the whole place, taking away the stillness of the night.

After I went inside, Nancy did not leave. She stood frozen, like a puppet without a soul, her face as white as the snow around us. Our eyes met through the glass, and it was like I was back on New Year's Eve. I was shivering in the cold snow, and she was cozy inside a warm room, looking down at me with a mix of scorn and pity.
