Elaine spoke the words down into the glass; the magic seemed to hear her, and as she gave a tug, the lid lifted. The book beneath the glass peered through Elaine. The volumes’ binding was smooth leather, and the stitching was gold. Long, smooth letters were intricately painted across the front, and her hand brushed them softly. It was the most precious book in the world. Reaching down, she pulled it out and flipped to the page she desired. There it was in thick black letters, the word luck. The pages of the book were filled with names and places, a guide to every gifted being in the land. It was centuries old and was only written on by the top magistrate himself, the king’s second in command

I reached the desk and touched the journal. The moment my ink-fingers touched the paper, the room changed. The red light vanished, replaced by a cold, clinical white. The girl’s bedroom walls didn't dissolve; they turned into **Glass**. Outside the glass, I saw thousands of people. They weren't "Shareholders" in gold suits. They were normal people. Teachers, students, parents, workers. They were all holding books. They were all reading. And they were all reading **Her**. "She's not the Reader," I realized, the horror dawning on me. "She’s a character too. She’s the 'Reader' in a story about someone who reads."

The blood pooled into a small teardrop shape, then it fell right on the glass. Fascinatingly, the blood began to spread through tiny carved lines on the glass all the way to the bottom where the carved lines met again. The moment they merged from all sides, a bright glow emitted from the glass and it began floating up, slowly lifting away from the book and stopping a little above the book. The second the Earth Grimoire was out in the open, both books stopped vibrating, and total silence came over the room. Elijah glanced around, waiting for something else to happen. He could feel the tension building, and then it happened.

He gritted his teeth, closed his eyes and I let out a breath as the pretty field disappeared, morphing and I find myself inside his flat at Paris. The shattering glass caught me off guard as he throws the bottle across the room. The last thing I saw, right after the sharp pain stabbed into the back of my neck, was the icy, emotionless face of my brother, Sean Lawson. When I regained consciousness, I found myself trapped inside a huge glass box. My hands and feet were bound so tightly that I could not move at all. "Sean, you know I have claustrophobia! She laughed, and he immediately knew that everything has eased. "Oh please." He huffed with his usual alluring business smile forming on his lips. "I'm a businessman, I need to please people." It stuck, and wouldn't remove. Her guts encouraged her to touch the book. And she did. She touched the book, and then slanted it, as if, wanting to remove it from its position amongst the books in that particular shelf. But as she did so, she heard unlocking sounds, and watched as the library parted into two, from that particular book. The book was divided into two equal parts now. "You did it!" She heard Anthony say, and turned and look at him. He was smiling down at her.

And this is how the last story about Light and Darkness that I wanted to present to you ends. It was certainly an extraordinary journey, showing different stories, but at the same time touching the same topic - can two such opposing poles as Light and Darkness connect at some point? I'll leave it to your own choice, but one thing is for sure - as Miyuki said in Book 4, wanting to stop the battle between vampires and wizards - Light and Darkness certainly couldn't exist without each other. If there was only Light but no Darkness, what would be its meaning? Likewise, if there was only Darkness in the world, wouldn't its existence be pointless without trying to "devour" the Light?

Vivienne: I won’t. There was a pause. Daniel: I love you. Vivienne pressed the phone to her chest as tears spilled over. “I love you too,” she whispered into the dark.
