Christmas was in the air but up in Santa’s lodge, all was quiet. The usual hustle and bustle of preparing Christmas presents had gone for Santa had fallen ill. “Oh dear, what will the children say when they don’t receive presents this year,” Santa wondered sadly as he lay on his bed.

One soft click. The picture came out tasteful but teasing, enough to make him grin. She smiled, selected Darren’s name, hit send. Then tossed her phone onto the bed and poured herself a glass of cheap red wine. Next week, she'd have her bags packed, ready to head to Maysville, the small town she'd grown up in for Christmas. Her holiday plan was just perfect! Her playlist hummed to life; jazzy, lazy Christmas tunes filling the air. For the first time all day, her shoulders relaxed. She even started humming along, thinking about what tomorrow morning would look like. Morning pancakes, bad movies, Darren’s laugh…

Two Christmases Later Bahamas Snow had a way of making everything feel so beautiful, white and peaceful. It reminded the whole world of the Christ child. The beauty of the season. "And Christmas is coming up fast. But remember, wishes don't always come true exactly as we think they will. Sometimes they happen in ways we don't expect." Please let me get all the toys on my Christmas list… and please let me get my Christmas wish. Amen." Laila chuckled softly. "Care to tell me what your Christmas wish is, nugget?" Malaya's shoulders curled inward. "I… I don't want you to be mad at me."

I curled up with Chris in his bed as we watched a movie. He’s been worried about me over the past week, which I feel bad about. I hate worrying everyone. Chris surprised me with a home-cooked dinner and a movie; A Journey Back to Christmas, my favorite Christmas movie ever. I sighed as we watched, “What’s wrong?” Chris asked; I shook my head, but Chris was not about to take that for an answer. He paused the movie and straightened up, waiting for me to talk to him.

The streets were cruel. Christiana had nowhere to go. No money, no food, no idea what tommorow would bring. She walked for hours, her arms wrapped tightly around Praise, who was in deep sleep. Every step felt heavier, her legs barely able to carry her. She passed by Restaurants, their bright lights and warm air spilling onto the streets, mocking her. “I really don’t want to lose my head.” “Yeah,” the second lady agreed. “But it would have been very nice if we celebrated Christmas this year.” “Hmmm. You know that is not possible, right?” “Nothing is impossible,” she said again. “Who knows? Santa might visit this year and decide to heal the Alpha’s wounded heart, and he would let us celebrate Christmas this year.” The other ladies told her to stop dreaming, as it would never come true. “Bad kid,” the new lady said, her voice carrying a pitying undertone. “His mother died on Christmas Eve, so it is understandable that he hates Christmas and everything that comes with it. Celebrating Christmas or not doesn’t make him less of a kind Alpha.”

Too aware of each other. As the sun began to set, painting the sky in pink and orange streaks, Sebastian received another message. A single line: “This Christmas, you won’t get away.” Sebastian’s hand tightened around his gun. He looked at Nyra.
