The Thirteenth Tale Novels & Stories

Conri went on and sat down "They took my mother when I was just a little boy. I'm sure you've heard of how Greiner used to be our home?" Nuala's eyes widened and she listened to him tell the story of how the fairies had gotten rid of all female werewolves. She felt sorry for him, of course she knew the story too but they were taught at Greiner that all werewolves were dangerous and a serious threat to all Fairies and so it was fair in her mind but after listening to Conri and being in his presence, she realized they weren't as they were described.

I closed my eyes for a second before giving back a confident smile at the jury and started reciting my story just like how Xander and I had practiced last night. Everything was smooth until my last line and the audience gave me a round of applause. I saw the jury looked at my manuscript and nod slowly. I went backstage where all the other participants gathered. I was surprised the first participant went towards me, “your story was amazing! It’s very realistic and really a tragic one” she gushed and that made me smile shyly. “Thank you, your story was good too family centered stories are always touching.” I said sincerely and we both said good luck to each other as we wait for the announcemen

The street was greenish-gold, illuminated by the almost fallen streetlamps that half revealed all things below them in an airy greenish-gold; Thaddeus spotted a man standing with his two hands up and another behind him, pointing a revolver just down the road. He saw all things in greenish gold but these men, in this situation was as clear as the brightest star in the darkest sky. He might be witnessing something more than what he thought it was; a murder. Seeing me, she grabbed my hand and screamed, "Sion is a monster… You have to save me!" I frowned, noticing that even makeup couldn't hide the bruise on her neck. "Tell me, what happened?" Joey was still panicking and gulped before she finally spoke. She had gotten bored and was exploring Sion's castle when she found his secret room. She shuddered, her previous dignity gone. "It's filled torture tools, and there's a deep pool of blood on the floor. And…" She paused, her nails digging into my harm. "There's this tome that says Sion stays alive by eating the hearts of young girls! That the more infatuated his victim is with him, the better!"

She looked up at me then with dark eyes. “This is no ordinary threat. The Thirteenth Claw os not a myth, Your Majesty. They are real. And they were wiped out for a reason.” I stiffened. “I was told their history was forbidden.” “It was erased,” she corrected. “Not forgotten.” I stepped closed. “Then tell me what you know.”

She was reading a thick leather-bound volume on ancient legends—her fingers tracing the golden ink of the mythical creatures etched on the page—when a shadow passed behind her. She turned and almost dropped the book. Alaric stood near the tall windows, hands clasped behind his back, eyes fixed on the snowy garden beyond. “I didn’t mean to intrude,” Seraphine said, quickly standing. “I didn’t know you were here.” He looked over his shoulder. “It is your home now as well. You do not need to flee when I enter.” Still, she held the book to her chest like a shield. Alaric’s gaze dropped to the spine. “The Chronicles of the Thirteenth Moon. That’s not light reading.”

Actualy her mother has said something and poised her ears that she is showing her drama to us, Amreet's mother said.

Then she understood. "The Thirteenth." Silence. Heavy silence. The voice laughed softly. Not warmly. Not cruelly. Just knowingly. "Very good, Serena." Every instinct in her sharpened. Because now she could feel the shape of the missing piece. The thing nobody had wanted to discuss. The thing hidden behind years of omission. "There were thirteen founders." The voice answered immediately. "Yes." Orpheus said nothing. The operator said nothing. Which meant it was true. Ethan stared at them.
