Behind the White Walls

Behind the White Walls

Walter was one of those guys. Somehow, he, an orphanage kid, always managed to turn Liliana's head, she who was usually so aloof. Even my sister, always my ally, turned her back on me for him. I confronted him once. After that, Walter got the rough end of the stick at school. Rumors flew that I could not stomach him. By semester's end, he had had enough and leapt from the school's rooftop. He survived, without a scratch, but he left behind a letter, a letter that screamed accusations at me.

The Alpha's Rejected Mate

The Alpha's Rejected Mate

Just — her hand on mine, deliberate and warm and present in the specific way that meant she was keeping track of me inside all the logistics. "Two nights," she said. "Two nights," I agreed. "We're going to make it." I looked at her across the table, the map between us covered in new pins, sixty wolves two hours south, the moon two nights from full, and everything we'd built still standing. "Yes," I said. "We are." --- Calla's pov I had held this wall with forty-one wolves and a prayer. Now apparently I was getting sixty more by midnight, three strangers who moved like controlled weapons, and the information that the wall cavity in the east wing might be leaking concentrated argentum into the

Secondly, all the walls were absolutely white stone, so clean and sparkling that freshly fallen snow would have looked dirty in comparison with these walls. “It's…incredible!” I involuntarily whispered in amazement, admiring the whiteness and radiance of the walls. “Yeah, it’s beautiful,” Keira agreed with me, continuing to stand on the threshold and not entering the room itself. “These are the walls of Aksakhali. In complete bewilderment, I looked at this bitchy snake, which, looking haughtily at me, explained:

The Eclipse Secret Child

The Eclipse Secret Child

I looked toward the horizon, where the spires of the Zenith City pierced the clouds like golden needles, even from here, I could feel the wall, a humming, high-frequency barrier of pure light that tasted like ozone and arrogance. "The wall is built on a lie," I said, my voice carrying a resonance that made the nearby stones vibrate, "it’s built on the belief that the light is infinite, but the light is just a borrowed heat." In my arms, Lucian was wide awake, he wasn't crying, he was watching the Golden Wall with a predatory curiosity, the marble-veined glow under his skin was pulsing in sync with the Spire’s hum, a rhythmic, hungry frequency.

COLD STEEL, BLEEDING HEARTS

COLD STEEL, BLEEDING HEARTS

"Benson has been fighting the people for three years Maya. In this part of the story he is a soldier. He is the guard of our memories.. The Firewall is a lonely place. It changes a man. He might not be the same." They flew toward a giant glowing wall of light. It went from the ground all the way up to the clouds. It looked like a waterfall made of light. Millions of names, dates and names of towns moved down the wall like a river. Julian whispered, "That is the Great Firewall. It is the thing keeping the Writer from erasing all of us who survived the first book." As they landed the car a group of men in armor ran toward them. They held weapons that looked like glass tubes filled with glowing

Blood Rust (Moon Sinner I)

Blood Rust (Moon Sinner I)

'Maybe it should. As soon as that thought passes my head, the books from Gideon's collection come to mind. Books I was allowed to read when I cleaned for him and his Luna on occasion. Tucked away in a corner of his bookshelf, in the study, a book with titanium colored covers that seemed out of place, just like this wall. Except, this wall isn't what it seems. For a moment, I just stare at the stone in disbelief. I try to think of something else, anything, but the more I look at it, the more it seems like a sealed door. It curves at the top, though it's obscured by the uneven parts of the mountain, there's an indication that the wall takes the shape of very big double doors.

I twisted, shifted and stretched until finally, I reached the closet door knob and pushed. Nothing. I frowned, shifted underneath Noah and tried again. Click. I froze as the wall behind me moved with a slow creak. Noah’s arm that had been resting against the wall was now around my waist and it tightened, flattening me against his chest. “What’s going on?” I whispered, taking in how huge his eyes were becoming by the second. “The wall,” he breathed. “T-There’s a door in the wall. The wall opened.”

THE BILLIONAIRE HIDDEN BRIDE: Reborn for Revenge

He pulled a lever on the wall, and thick steel shutters slammed down over every window and door, turning Liora's room into an impenetrable bunker. "Come on in, Mavric," Thomas whispered. "Let's see if your love is stronger than reinforced concrete." END OF CHAPTER 129.

Betrayed Before the Vows

Betrayed Before the Vows

William asked, his voice softening. Camelia blinked, the mention of their meta-narrative catching her off guard. "The novel? William, that was a game we played to survive the isolation. It’s not real." "Isn't it?" William moved a step closer, close enough that he could smell the faint scent of jasmine and ozone that always clung to her. "For ten years, we’ve been writing this story. The Architect and the Ghost. In the beginning, they were trying to find each other. Then they were trying to save the world. But in the final chapters, the Architect realizes that while he was trapped in his cage, the Ghost became the warden."

THE GOODBYE HE MISSED

THE GOODBYE HE MISSED

"Can we go to the bookshop?" They went. The shop occupied a converted house three streets over, with a resident dog named Duchess who greeted Noah by name and a whole shelf dedicated to field guides that Noah navigated with the confidence of a regular. He selected three books with careful deliberation — one on Pacific Northwest raptors, one a slim volume on migratory patterns he'd apparently been eyeing for weeks, and a third that surprised Adrian: a novel about a woman who builds something from nothing, its cover showing a small house under construction against a wide sky. "That one's for Mom," Noah said, setting it on the counter with the others. "She'll like it. Because she's Mom."

great start..concise with nuances. hope it would end the same way. not tooo many chapters that the main characters became watered down with so many side stories. i'm reading along slowly... so that i don't have to wait for updates. keep up the good work, dear author!

I want be clear when I say that I really like the story. It is engaging & draws you in, keeping you needing more. But if I never read the words "specific" or "particular" again, it will be too soon. About 60% of the sentences where they appear can be read without them & carry the same impact.
