He hesitated for a moment and then took off towards the road while Carl engaged the rival wolves. Amanda and Kimberly were getting close to the cop vehicle when a wolf leapt out of nowhere and grabbed Kimberly to the ground, biting the side of her stomach. Amanda flung her hand away and a force pulled the wolf strongly from the lady who cried aloud as she was now bleeding from the stomach.

Not even crickets. I was almost certain we were on the right track now, but it had gotten quiet. Far more than I was comfortable with. “Shit, Run Raya! In the trees! They’re in the fucking trees!” Mary’s ear-splitting scream filled the night and I broke out into my wolf without thinking, feeling the black fur shudder around me as my vision got ten times better so that I was able to make out the luminescent red eyes that watched us, launched in the trees like large shadowy wolves that bared their teeth when they noticed us.

Ivy whined, clinging onto Vivian's arm. "Ivy, stop being a whiny child! Eve, take him or I will take his dead body back." We turn to see a beautiful woman with a horrible scar across her face. “This is not possible! I killed you,” growls Alpha Jake. “Next time you might want to be sure you killed your target,” says the woman as she shoots another white light at another wolf. The woman looks right at me. “Get the girl,” she orders. I can tell the woman is a witch but she doesn’t appear to be a dark witch as she attacks Layla. Now that the dark witch is distracted my wolves easily begin to take out the remain Red Moon wolves. Alpha Jake drops Haley as he shifts and targets me.

My mind raced with confusion and alarm, for I did not recognize any of the attackers. End of POV Adam found himself surrounded by a group of menacing figures. They had handcuffed him and were now staring at him intensely. The leader, a burly man with a stupid mustache spoke up, " Who do you work for?" The leader asked. " Huh?" Adam tried to understand the question. " I said who is your boss?" The leader yelled, feeling more impatient. " I don't work for anyone, what is all this about?" Adam asked. "The girl you are trying to adopt, Lyra, she is ours. She belongs to the Mexican wolf gang. And you don't wanna mess with us." The leader barked out the warning.

I knew it would be hard to believe if I had tried explaining to him. "You are lying to me, Mary. I am the Alpha and I can have your head. What's your relationship with her?!" Alexander glared. “Have you ever seen her in wolf form?” Mary snapped, planting her hands on her waist as she returned Alexander’s glare. “What other clans have red wolves if not Ultima Luna?!” It was funny Mary was snapping at Alexander but I could barely laugh. Mary had never snapped at him before until now. And I wasn’t sure why, but I found this side of her intriguing. She looked fearless and it amazed me.

Noah continued. I was a little displeased with this question. Noah was still a child. How could Catherine talk about the mate thing with him? "Yes or no?" Noah asked again as I didn't answer. His face grew solemn. I suppressed my anger and replied in a gentle tone, "No, I'm always single!" "You're lying..." Noah shouted in a sharp voice. "Your mate is called Gina. When I had just arrived at Sayreville, I heard from other werewolves that she is your Lycan Luna!" Noah said seriously.

Then the storm came. “It’s her! The black wolf!” a woman shrieked, pointing at me as if I were the plague itself. “She brought this upon us!” another cried out, voice hoarse with rage. “Haven’t you done enough, you cursed witch?” a man spat at my feet. Did they truly believe I summoned Xareth? That I had chosen this destruction? Their pack was falling apart, and yet here they were hurling their last breaths at me. But none of it mattered. I only searched the crowd with fevered eyes for Zevarion.

I rubbed the back of my neck, letting out a sigh. “If you decide to go ahead with the mating ceremony,” I said slowly, “I’ll tell you where your mother is and I’ll give you that answer.” Her eyes were locked on mine now and she wasn’t blinking, just staring hard. “And I’ll tell you one more thing for free,” I added. “Your mother, she’s sick.” Seraya let out a soft gasp. . “Very sick,” I repeated. “And in case I didn’t mention it before, these demons don’t just possess strong wolves. They go after the weak, the helpless and the sick. That’s how they work. They take over the ones who can’t fight back.”
