I just turn the page and read the heading of the next chapter when there was a knock on the door. I freeze as I look up from the book and over to the door. As I hear the door click open, I move the book and hide it behind one of the pillows next to me. I then scoot back on the chaise, bringing my knees up to my chest as I stare at the door. I relax a little when I see Ali poke her head around the door and then kick it open, allowing her to walk in and say,

"You know it's a long journey, Lora. Why don't we transform into our wolves? It will help us reach there in time." Those words brought me to a standstill, leaving me speechless. How could I transform into my wolf at this moment? Observing my distress, Phillips stepped forward. "Lora," he called out, and I turned to meet his gaze. "Are you alright?" I nodded, attempting to portray a sense of normalcy. "I'm fine. Let's change into our wolves, alright?" He nodded in agreement and knelt down, his clothes tearing apart as his bones audibly cracked. I watched, awestruck, as I realized this was my first encounter with a wolf.
