The truth ends the dream you didn’t know you were still living. I pressed the back of my wrist to my mouth to stop the tremor in my breath. The paper rustled as my fingers clenched tighter, until the edge cut into my skin. A small sting, almost welcome—it was something I could control when everything else wasn’t. “I still wish…” My voice cracked softly, barely a whisper. “I still wish she was mine.” The sound of my own words startled me. They hung in the air, fragile, like something that shouldn’t have escaped.

I whispered, my voice soothing. I sat down beside her, worry etched on my face. "I wish for a lot of things, Tia," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I wish for peace, for safety, for a life free from the threats that surround us." I looked at her, my eyes searching for understanding. "I need time, Tia, time to be able to tell you what's in my heart."

He just looks numb. "It won't always be like this, Ethan. I wish I could take it all back. I wish I could go back in time and never speak to Dane. I laughed while watching his retreating back. However, my laugh quickly morphed into a bitter smile when I remembered what I wished for. "How could I say it out loud?" I muttered under my breath. How could I say my wish to you? When you're the one that I wished for.

I cried out. “If I could make a wish I would wish for you to come back to life, I would wish for none of this to happen. I would wish for us to go back to when we were friends.
