Something had started. And it wasn’t random.

A clean, contained thing. I looked at the boy arranging marshmallows into a pattern only he understood. I looked at the man sitting quietly across from me, one thumb tracing the rim of his mug. I took a sip of the hot chocolate, warm and slightly too sweet and exactly right, and understood, for the first time since stepping off that plane, that the thing I had been escaping toward had already shifted into something I hadn't planned for at all. I wasn't sure yet whether that was frightening or the opposite of it.

But there was no turning back now. It was now… not never.

Something was coming. And we were far from ready.

He was very still. "It chose three nights ago," I said. "When it ran through every pack that felt it reach and they moved toward it rather than away. It anchored to something you cannot offer it. Not because you are wrong about what it is. Because what it found here is something it did not have before the sealing. Something it built here that did not exist when you carried it." Something passed by his face. Not anger. Not disbelief.

Like something important had been forgotten. Like something was about to change.

Something that wasn't going away. It was a start.

This wasn't the end of something. This wasn't even close to the end.

The uneasiness that had once troubled her had dissipated entirely, leaving no trace of its presence. With a renewed sense of vitality, Zelda greeted the day with a smile. She reveled in the stillness of the morning, the promise of a fresh start unfurling before her. The mysterious occurrence of the previous night served as a reminder of the enigmatic nature of life, of the intricate rhythms that flowed beneath the surface.

Fiona bent over and started by cleaning the wound with a hydrogen peroxide. Normally, a patient will scream in pain, it hurts but Lan didn't show a slight sign of feeling hurt. He just shut his eyes. Fiona had a good chance to glare at him properly. The guy screams perfection. His physique, his masculine body, his cuteness and a feeling of compressing aura emanating from him. Has she met him before? Why did she have this feeling that they've met before? The familiarity was getting more convincing to her. Where had she met him?
