Maybe there had never been a ghost at all.
On the fourth morning, Ben woke from another dreamless sleep with restless energy buzzing beneath his skin. He lay staring at the ceiling, body tight, thoughts spiraling.
He considered going out to find someone willing, letting distraction do what reason couldn’t.
Then he remembered the last time he’d tried.
The chaos. The fear. The anger.
If she was angry, she was here. And she hadn’t made a sound in days. Either a ghost was ghosting him, or he had convinced himself of something that wasn’t real. But he wasn't sure it was worth bringing a girl home to provoke a reaction from his ghost.
