On that last morning, we all stood outside in the muggy, hazy air, everyone making uncomfortable small talk and stupid jokes as the clock ticked on. Finally, Joe clapped a hand on his son's shoulder. "You better get on the road, bud. Long drive ahead of you. And what time are you supposed to meet Tate?" Leo was sharing the drive with another Carolina freshman football player, this one from Gatbury, the next town over from us. He'd met Tate Durham over the summer, through Leo's friend Matt Lampert, and they'd hit it off. Tate was one of the few decent football guys I'd met, and I noticed he seemed to have a good influence on Leo.

Tanner’s POV I want to stall time as much as I can. Demanding for a lawyer is my way of stalling time. I don’t know what to do again. As I was thinking about what to do, an elderly man walked inside the interrogation room. He looked familiar, I was wondering where I knew him from. I remembered seeing him near old Morgan at the press conference. “My name is Tom, an agent.” This cleared all my doubts. I will never forget that name my whole life.

She then bends down to retrieve her pile of books from the ground and stands up. "My name is Charlotte" I tell her and extend my hand forward as a kind gesture. She looks at me from top to bottom. I know that my gesture has taken her by surprise and she continues to look nervous. I look at her and to my surprise, she takes my hand and shakes it with a sweet smile. "Hi, my name is Adele, nice to meet you Charlotte" she says with a smile. "Are you a newcomer too?" she continues. "Yes, are you?" I ask her returning her smile.

But I felt the seat beside me shift, and when I reluctantly turned, there he was, sitting close. "What, again? Can't you see I'm busy?" I snapped, my anger seeping through, though his smile remained unchanged. "By the way, I didn't introduce myself when you accidentally spilled your drink on me. I'm Drake. Mind telling me why you keep coming here, drowning your sorrows in alcohol?" His question fueled my anger. I looked away, hoping my silence would make him leave. "Hello," he persisted, but I kept drinking, deliberately avoiding eye contact.
