Thick black smoke soared into the sky, producing a giant, terrifying plume. The pungent odor seemed to poison my nose and throat to the point of suffocation. The sounds of screams, cries, and laughter mixed together like water and wind in the ocean. Me too, was in that atmosphere. Lying helplessly on the grass with a body full of wounds. My body was so covered in blood that I was unable to do anything. With blurred vision, I saw a boy about seven years old with red hair and pale skin and long fangs, standing in front of me and pointing his index finger at me. A purplish light emerged from his index finger and swirled around in a small vortex.

Luciana Pov. I closed my eyes sitting on the bed. The only thing which gives me some relaxation is he's not here. He's not here to torture me. I looked at my hand and sighed... I am tired. I am losing my every hope... I am losing my strength to even think of enduring another pain. I carefully removed the duvet and walked towards the bathroom... I entered the bathroom... And it was the same... Dark. It wasn't full black but still, it was fully dark... How much I hate this darkness but still God has written only darkness in my fate...

I found a book that seemed nice and pulse-racing, Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts. I took it off the shelf and looked back at Ashton who was now holding Jack in his hands. I went to the till and paid for the book. We then went out of the shop and headed to the car park. When we got to the car park, I got in and took Jack from Ashton to remove him from the cover and place him back on the stand. It was around 5:30 pm so we still had some time before heading home. Ashton read that from my mind and then he went around the car, got in and sat on the seat next to mine.

20 minutes pass, and I have maybe turned 3 pages while Shea has become sucked into whatever she's reading, turning pages faster and faster. "What book did you pick?" I ask finally. She lifts scandalized eyes to meet mine. "I had no idea you looked books like this." She says finally. "I haven't actually read it yet, what is it?" She closes the book and I peer at the cover. 'A Touch of Darkness' I remember picking the book up, but I don't think I read the dust jacket. I half crawl down to the bottom of the bed where she is laying and peer over her shoulder to read the page she's holding in my direction.

"Three?" "Yes," he replied. "The first one is 'Under the Darkness,' the second one is 'Summer Under the Leaves,' and the third one is this one," he pointed to the title of the book with its faded and burnt rose-petal cover. "All written by the same author as the last one. She's really good," he smiled. "She describes certain scenarios of what could have happened in Melia Conkinova's life, regarding her parents' lives, their death, and her own as well. I've read them all, they're incredible!" he exclaimed with excitement. "Sorry," he mumbled. "No problem," she said, tousling his blond hair.

But something strange happened. The moment my fingers touched it, the darkness within me contaminated it and the light began to darken. I gasped. "No!" The darkness continued to spread throughout the light and I helplessly watched as the light died. "What have I done?" I muttered in shock. "Please stop!" I ordered but it kept darkening. So I touched the other side of the light that was still burning, hoping that I could stop the darkness from spreading but I only made it worse.

I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Oran looked up from what he was reading and smiled. “Behind you.” “You must have missed me, Mother.” His deep voice slid into my veins like warm honey mixed with poison. I almost froze on the spot as I felt a violent shiver racing down my spine. As Soren walked past me, his large hand brushed softly against my waist. And suddenly, what should have been a seemingly innocent touch felt like lightning striking through my body. My breath rose because the memory of those same hands pinning me down, spreading me open, and ruining me flashed through my mind so sharply I nearly whimpered.

He didn't understand that the pain wasn't in my flesh; it was in my soul. Then, the door bursted open. My savior had walked in. Mr. Blackthorne. He looked like a storm draped in a tailored suit. "What did you do to her?" he had demanded, his voice low and dangerous. The doctor had trembled, unable to speak. Blackthorne didn't wait for an answer. He walked to the bed and reached out, his large, warm hands lifting me up. He sat me against the headboard, his touch firm yet strangely careful.
