Treading Water Book Novels & Stories

Love is supposed to be beautiful, supposed to lift your spirits but the love of today is just a joke. I jump off the rock and walk to the stream. I take off my shoes, shorts and leave the t-shirt on. It stops on my mid-thighs. I pull it over to my nose and Tay's scent calms my nerves. He is like a drug that I can't get enough of. I sigh and make a run start and the next thing I know I'm in the cold water. It is not too cold but if I stay for long I might catch a cold. I resurface and push my hair back and it sticks to my head. I lay my head back in the water and float with my eyes closed enjoying the silence.

My heart thudded rapidly and I felt like my lungs were going to break out of my ribcage due to the depletion of air I was having. I felt my strength sap out of me, my breathing shallow and my legs wobbled in the water. "Nate!" Richmond screamed, confirming my thoughts. Like a flash, Tigger disappeared from my side and he ran towards his brothers and as though their eyes suddenly opened they joined him in jumping into the pool, their bodies moving energetically in the water.

His hand trembled as he knelt, dipping his fingers into the icy water. A shock traveled up his arm, his heart jolting. The river whispered low, haunting, like a thousand voices speaking at once. He gasped, jerking his hand back, but not before he saw it. A shape beneath the water. A book. Black, pulsing faintly with veins of crimson, as though it breathed. Elowen's breath caught, her eyes wide with awe and fear. "The book…" Jackson stumbled forward, peering over Donato's shoulder. "Is that really it? Just lying there?"

The ground beneath their feet was wet, and the soothing sound of rushing water filled the air. As they began their journey through the Water Realm, they encountered various aquatic creatures that inhabited the realm. Lila, with her innate connection to nature, used her water manipulation skills to control the waves, allowing the group to pass safely. Allan’s shadows provided cover, shielding them from the water’s force and any potential threats lurking within. After traversing the watery landscape for what felt like hours, they reached a massive waterfall that blocked their path. "The Water Relic is said to be hidden behind this waterfall," Lila said, examining the rushing water. "We need to

After that I walked into the lecture hall about ten minutes late for classes. Instead of the calm I expected to see, the entire hall was louder than normal. The professor hadn't arrived yet. The girls were clustered in groups and whispering fast with soft giggles. Guys leaned over desks with their phones out, showing each other something. “Did you see him yet?” one girl asked her friend. “They say he’s from the UK." Her friend squealed a reply. "He's so hot. And I heard he wrote like three books on advanced dynamics.”

A strange voice echoed from the door and immediately the Glass cup shattered into pieces, it was all over the place. "Ahh............." I screamed blocking my eyes to save them from getting hurt. "God!!!" The nurse and Heedah screamed as they ran up to me. "Are you okay, what happened?" Heedah asked looking around in confusion. "I don't know, i just........." I tried saying but paused, it was now clear to me, i actually had powers, according to a book i got from Heedah it's called a water manipulation Power, the ability to manipulate water and command it to obey and serve you, but how was this even possible?, I had a trauma for deep water bodies.

River's fingers danced across the spines, devouring titles that whispered promises of resilience and courage. "The Blind Voyager", "The Lame Warrior's Triumph", "Against All Odds", and "Unlikely Heroes" each resonated deeply, but one title in particular caught her eye: "The Story of Alero, Blind Healer". With gentle reverence, River pulled out the slim volume, its cover adorned with intricate, raised patterns that evoked the delicate petals of a flower. The book did not come out alone, it came with another document: a large parchment like the one in her dream!

I don’t take my eyes off the pool. “Kael,” she says quietly, “the book.” Damn it. The black leather book is still on the altar. The water in the pool rises by an inch. Not splashing. Not flooding. Just lifting. Like a thing standing up under a blanket. I make a choice. “Stay there.” I move fast, cross the platform, and yank the book up with the edge of my shirt wrapped around my hand. Heat shoots through the cloth anyway. Sharp. Mean. I swear and turn back.

I was thrashing, my feet kicking at the air, my muffled screams dying in the wet fabric. Just when the black spots started to dance in my eyes, he pulled the towel away. I coughed, spraying water into the air, gasping for breath so hard it hurt my lungs. I was shaking, my whole body vibrating with terror. "Read," Vance said, pointing to the page. I looked at the book. My vision was blurry from the water and the tears. The words were a mess. They were shaking worse than I was. "I... I can't... The... the quick..."

It’s a heavy old thing, and by the time I get it over to the table, I’m out of breath and sweating like I just ran a marathon. Discarding the blanket, I start to read the little book, but the words are swimming in front of my eyes, and nothing’s making sense. Wiping sweat from my brow, I go back to the living area where Glenn left several bottles of juice and water. I grab something, I don’t know what, and on weak legs make my way back to the library.
