Trevor Henderson Horse Novels & Stories

But the staff were surprisingly quick to accept it and some even congratulated us which stunned me for a time. I am so proud of Lance and my happy bubble has been growing each day. Today I am out riding on another two-year-old colt training them to accept a rider has been my job since I was a teenager. This one is one of the best I have trained, he accepted the saddle with relative ease and even seemed eager to let me get on his back. We named him Stripe because he has a black stripe that runs the length of his spine, and he is fast.

she scribbled on her board. Cole rolled his eyes. "The kids named him. Once a month, I host a non-profit organization that puts special-needs kids on horses. About a year ago, I got this little brown horse from a rescue group, and when the kids saw him, they decided he was Taco." Jenny reached out and petted Taco as he followed Layla out to the pasture. In the next stall was a huge black horse which shook its head and danced sideways as Cole and Jenny approached. "This is my boy Apollo." Cole smiled proudly. "He's pure Arabian. My one extravagant purchase."

He turned when he heard Amos behind him, leading a tall, shiny black horse, saddled and ready to go. "Gee, I really wish I could go with you." She looked off toward the mountains. "Maybe after you get some riding lessons under your belt. There's always plenty of riding to do around here." His horse began prancing and pawing the ground, anxious to run, and Chase took hold of his bridle. "It's okay, boy. Don't worry. You'll get your run. Be patient." After patting the animal affectionately on the head and neck, he turned back to Lauren. "This is Midnight. He used to be one of our champion sires, but he's retired now."

Pictures from girls' nights in my apartment and scenic shots of Jamaica. “Thank you,” I smile, and he nods. “My gift is outside in the stable,” Carter breaks the silence and hands me a picture. “Thoroughbred, Stallion, 18 hands. Please tell me that makes sense. Caleb helped me.” I smile and nod. “I need to get a saddle,” I confess with glee. “Oh, really?” Everyone asks in unison. I smell my brother and look up. But he doesn’t see me. He is staring at my friend.

My list of dreams started right here. “Oh my God!” I gasped dramatically. “You don't know how to ride. That's what this is all about, isn't it?” If looks could kill I'd be six feet underground with the glare he shot me, “Of course, I do.” He grabbed the helmet and boots to get dressed. Excitement bubbled through me, as I stood in front of a beautiful chestnut mare, my fingers itching to touch her velvety coat. Meanwhile, Travis looked like he’d just been sentenced to shovel manure. His stallion snorted impatiently, and he flinched back slightly, though he tried to cover it up by pretending to adjust the reins like he knew what he was doing.

He brushed the dirt off his jeans and adjusted his jeans and shirts. Ensuring the head gears were well fitted securely on the protective parts of their bodies, he untethered the Cleveland Bay Horse and took her to our outdoor arena. Then repeated the same action for the others. griping them securely with his powerful hands as his biceps rippled and flexed underneath his thin cotton cream-coloured shirt, he led them to the arena, waiting for the order of Mr. Jordan.

I asked. He nodded. “Yes, ma’am. This is the paddock. They’re kept loose here so they can move freely. When they’re being trained or ridden, that’s when we tack them up—saddle, reins, all of it.” I studied the brown horse I’d noticed earlier. Up close, he looked even bigger. I stepped a little closer. “They’re gentle, right?” “Most of them are,” he said with a small smile, patting the brown horse’s neck. “This one’s Dusty. He’s pretty calm. You want to get a little closer?”

She glanced at Cody and corrected saying “our barn.” Damon said, “Cody was telling me about heartbreaker.” Angel smiled so brightly at the mention of the horse she said “He is a randy fella for sure. But, beautiful, I’ve never seen a more beautiful animal.” Damon looked at Cody and said, “You know Gambler and Heartbreaker have the same Sire.” She heard Cody sigh, but he said “Yes, I knew. It’s the culmination of a man’s life’s dream to own a horse like that.”

“Of course.” Our gaze lingers for another moment and then I continue on, grabbing another brand of treats so I can go and checkout and then rush to my next appointment. Crystal is already on her way and will get to the Henderson’s farm before I do. They live in the next town over and it’ll be about a forty-minute drive before I’m even there. The Hendersons are a nice family with six horses and are the type of people you want to work with, so I don’t mind the drive. Today’s visit is a routine checkup on their pregnant mare as well as doing hock injections on two of their horses who need them to stay comfortable.

24 miles race in less than 3 minutes! At this moment, he had already ridden his horse to the finish line. "The champion is number 16 purebred horse: Whisper Thunder!" The broadcast echoed the judges' announcement, followed by the runners-up. Damon leaped off his horse, removed his helmet, and revealed his finely sculpted face, causing a collective gasp from the audience. "Is that... Damon?" "He personally raced and still won the championship?" "The value of Eldoria purebred horses is gonna skyrocket this year."
