He moved with ease, almost like a guide, describing the perils of this wild world and explaining the monsters we encountered, including ghouls, wendigos, and others whose mere names made my skin crawl. I had never seen such creatures before, and their forms and movements were more terrifying than I could have imagined.

The overwhelming weightlessness wiped out every thought in my mind. Then, my body crashed into the ground with a violent impact. It felt like every bone in me shattered at once. Pain shot through me like sharp knives, spreading from my right leg throughout my entire body. I could feel the bone in my right leg break. The agony was so intense that I couldn’t stop myself from groaning. Sweat and tears poured out uncontrollably, soaking my clothes in seconds.

I hit the ground hard, shifting mid-fall, claws shredding stone as I land. Guards rush in Too late. I tear through them, fury guiding every strike. With those final words, I yanked the wedding ring off my finger and flung it at Nolan with all the force I could muster. "Hah. Alright, then," said Nolan, nodding. He tossed a check onto the coffee table like it was nothing. "Here's fifteen thousand. Take it and get out!" The moment my fingers brushed the check, Lena let out a sharp cry. "Ugh, my chest... It's so tight..." She crumpled, falling right into Nolan's arms. Nolan's face twisted with shock, and he swatted my hand away like I was a pest. The check drifted down, landing in an ashtray brimming with cigarette butts, instantly ruined.

"How can you say it's not true? You are the proof," Arayan replied with a smile.

I could detect the disappointment in his eyes, disappointed at me for not giving him what he deserved and perhaps a little disappointed at himself too for not possessing something that I could blindly trust him based on. My face evidently fell at his question, and I was disheartened to realise that I simply had no words to spare. There was no room of doubt about my love for him in my heart, but the same couldn’t be said for my trust in him. I didn’t love him because I trusted him with my whole heart. If anything, I will learn to trust him because I loved him with my whole heart.
