I held up my hand and closed my eyes again. “I don’t know.” I pictured what I would need to make this work. I felt a soft push, and the book was back into my hands, opened to a page. I looked down and froze. “What’s this?” “Your book?” Toya sounded confused. “No, the page.” I pointed to it, but Toya shrugged. “That’s the page I was on when you jumped up.” She looked down at the book and laughed. “It’s a rock again, so I can’t see the page I was on.”

Xander took one of the books and carried it downstairs. Alice was still there, staring at the thing that caught her eye. Alice turned back to the next page, trying to distract herself. But could not, how many times Alice tried to turn the book to the next page. In fact the book always reopens to that thing. Alice stared at the object for a long time, until Alice seemed to see it was real.

Lord Yong opened the book and started looking for the antidote to break the curse. He continued to turn page after page with a menacing taste of what's to come. The front page of the book was dark and coarse, the pages had turned yellowish. Spells and amendments were written on each page of the book. The pages of the book are said to be made of vellum of animals.

Walking to the bed I carefully lift the mattress and see that the prophecy book is still tucked neatly underneath it. Sitting on the bed I hold the book in my hands and watch as the symbols on the front of the book transform into a language that I can read. The book hums quietly on my lap begging me to open it. Laying the spine on my legs I let the book fall open. The pages turn on their own as if being moved by the wind. Suddenly the pages stop and a page begins to glow brightly under my finger tips. Taking a deep breath I open my eyes and see a new page glowing brightly in my hands. The symbols magically change and translate themselves on the paper.

I looked at the book and I saw a paper sticking out of it. "Open that page Grey." He saw what I was pointing at and there was a piece of paper sticking out of it. It was torn. "It's a torn page. I'm not surprised. The book is centuries old." I looked at the page and it hit me. "That page isn't from that book." Grey was surprised and watched me as I opened my bag and rummage through it. I pulled out the book he had given me and opened the page the was torn. I took the page from Grey and it perfectly lapsed with mine.

Chloe opened the book and her eyes widened. This book... She scanned the pages and then let out a huff of disbelief. Why are there empty pages?

She picked up Isidora’s book and set it down on the table. She opened up the front and back covers and flattened it onto the surface along the creases. One by one, she opened a page on each side. She continued until the spine curves and the pages fanned out, then she opened up a few pages at a time. She kept going until she reached the center carefully so as not to fold the spine. She then flipped the pages from front to back a few times. She then showed them the result. “See? Now the spine will curve instead of crack. Ah.. Do you need a bookmark? I have some..”

The room suddenly feels colder. I should leave. I turn to go— But my elbow knocks the edge of the small table beside the bed. The book she was holding drops to the floor with a thud. I sigh and bend down, picking it up. The cover is still upside down. But when I flip it, so the cover is upside down and the spine faces the floor, something strange happens. The text inside is perfectly upright. My fingers freeze on the page. I flip back to the front. The title is wrong-side up again.

Greta and Gabby made their way to Page Turner’s Bookstore just down the street from the Blue Moon Inn. Once inside the warmth of the large shop, Greta was surprised to see a bright modern shop, which included not only a metaphysical section, but my children’s section, too. With soft upbeat music playing in the background, it didn’t take long to find the shopkeeper chatting away to a rather wild looking dog by a fireplace.

Dakari squeezed her hand. Luca lifted a hand to turn the page and reverently lifted from the corner. His hand did not shake as he confidently attempted to move the parchment. This was obviously not his first time dealing with old books. To his surprise, he met no resistance. The page that had been so secure now turned like it was bound only hours ago.
