Novel & Cerita Visible Neck Veins

She hastily responded after minutes of holding the phone to her ear. For some minutes, she was busy wearing her shoe—the stilettoes that matched her work uniform. Her uniform was a mini skirt that revealed her lower thighs, and an arm sleeved shirt. *** “Mother Veer, what did you say about the lines?" Nyx asked the old woman who was seated opposite her. Some lines had already started showing on her—Nyx’s belly and she found them weird. “It's totally normal. It's almost similar to stretch marks but, they aren't stretch marks" Mother Veer responded.

Kai turned to me. I couldn't say a word, tears slipping down my cheeks instead. Natasha thankfully took a hint and dashed back towards the room, with Kai tailing her. Zeke was groaning against the headboard by the time we returned. His gray eyes were almost lifeless, and his pale skin was even paler than before. But there was something more different. I gasped as I spotted the dark veins running down his neck towards his chest. “Is that supposed to be normal?” Kai muttered beside me.

After a few calming breaths and some intentional blinking, I opened my eyes again, hoping to find them back to normal. Venita stood in front of the fridge, frozen in her tracks. Her breathing was still rapid from the shock. Trying to ease the tension, I tried to get into her head. Venita," I began gently, "what you just saw, it's not real. People's eyes don't glow. It must be a trick of the light or fatigue playing tricks on your eyes. I think…" She vigorously shook her head, interrupting me. "I know what I saw. Quit trying to confuse me."

His hands were pressed to his sides, fingers working like they were reacting to pain too big to hide. And then I saw the veins. Dark red lines under his skin. They came from his collar, reached his neck and crawled down his arms. The color looked like blood trapped under glass. It’s terrifying and goddamn painful. The Valon was acting up again. “Eli,” I said, dropping to a knee. His mouth moved, but no words followed. His eyes looked vacant, his breathing too quick. His skin was cold but burning under those veins. I turned my head slowly, standing back up. “Thought I made it clear the last time? Do not use him as a fuckin’ message!”

And veins. God, he has so many veins, running just under his skin. One of them goes down his taut neck. It bumps over his collarbone and then disappears beneath his muscled pecs. His chest was massive and the curves of it make a tight valley that then changes into the ridges of his abdomen. I go to count those ridges and I was pretty sure that he’s got a six-pack. Could be eight too.

“Mine doesn’t look anything like yours. Not even close. Mine’s surrounded by creepy veins and looks like weird symbols are forming in it. It glows, too. Like my—wait, are my eyes still glowing?” “Like a spotlight.” His eyes narrow onto my arm, covered by my jacket’s sleeve. “Can I see it? The dark veins are normal, by the way. It passes, so don’t worry.” “I’m glad to hear that.” I push back my hair to reveal my neck. “Mine almost takes up my entire neck.” “Your neck?” Elijah’s eyes jerk up from my arm. His face contorts in shock. He swoops forward and grabs my shoulder. “What the hell?”

Didn’t look away. Neither did I. Until I couldn’t take the way my stomach fluttered, the way heat bloomed beneath my skin. I looked down, breath catching in my throat. His hand moved to untangle mine from his shoulder—and then stilled. He was staring at my forearm. At the vein. Dark and thin, spidering from just beneath the skin. Not green. Not purple. Black. I thought that vanished before. His fingers wrapped around my wrist, not hard, but firm. Possessive.

All I could see was her. She was a wreck. Blood crusted under her nose. A long gash torn down her side where the beast’s claws had caught her. Her face was gray and sunken, her lips cracked. And her arm… I pulled back her torn sleeve and my heart stopped. The black veins. I’d heard about them. I’d seen them on the dying at the gates. But I’d never seen them on her, and the sight of them tore something open in me. They’d spread far past her wrist, past her elbow, climbing up over her shoulder, dark and thick and pulsing faintly under her skin like something alive.

“Drink.” I looked at the veins on his throat and I could see the blood pulsing under his pale skin. I could smell the luscious life-giving blood underneath, calling to me … I didn’t pause to wonder what was happening to me or what I was doing. Instead, I bared my teeth and sank them into the milky-white flesh of his neck.

Any thermometer would have failed to measure what I could see what I could feel. There were black veins. Thin, unnatural lines moving beneath his skin, like living ink made of shadow itself. They pulsed, spreading with each heartbeat. I had seen similar cases, but nothing like this. They’d started at his ankles, creeping upward, pulsing with an intensity that made my chest tighten. Now they had reached his waist. If they crossed any further, spread past that point, he’d be gone. Not in the usual medical sense. Gone entirely. I pressed my fingers against his wrist again, feeling the pulse. Weak, but it was there. Just barely.
