AUTHOR'S P.O.V. In the stillness of the night, a massive black wolf prowled gracefully around the slumbering men scattered on the forest floor. His nostrils flared as he meticulously sniffed each of them before dashing across the boundary where another wolf, cloaked in rich brown fur, waited in anticipation. They stood, nose to nose, an unspoken dialogue flowing between them, until the brown wolf yielded, melting back into the embrace of the dark woods. The black wolf hurriedly returned to the sleeping warriors, only to be interrupted by the rustle of leaves and the muted sounds of approaching paws.

The sword was plunged deep into his chest and the warrior who speared him grinned, pulling his sword out and then ramming it into his neck. The scent of his blood reached my senses. I could taste his death, the coppery tones of his blood. My canines elongated and I snarled showing off my sharp teeth. A grunt from Ajani told me he was injured from the corner of my eye I could see a large gash in his forearm. The warriors began to back up putting some distance between us and them. “Regroup” I called out to my two remaining companions, and again stood back to back.

But Andromeda’s forces were relentless, and every fallen enemy seemed to be replaced by more. A high-pitched yelp cut through the din, drawing my attention. I turned to see one of the warriors pinned beneath a hulking rogue, its jaws snapping dangerously close to her throat. Without thinking, I launched myself at the beast, slamming into it with enough force to send it sprawling. I stood protectively over the young wolf, baring my teeth in a feral snarl that sent the rogue fleeing into the chaos. Stay behind the line, I linked him sharply, my tone leaving no room for argument. He nodded, his eyes wide with fear and gratitude, before retreating to the safety of the defensive formation.
