"Are you really single? I saw you leaving with an older guy before this." "That was my dad's friend," I said quickly. "My parents passed away early, so Uncle Grant raised me. The other guys are just his friends." Someone else snorted, unwilling to let it go. "She grew up around a bunch of old men. How clean could she be? Don't be fooled, Jack. You won't even know whose kid you're raising if you started cherishing someone who's a carousel." Jack's face darkened in an instant, as though I had already cheated on him, and his hand on me tightened.

I gave my life happily to the devil who is going to make it a hell. “OK time for celebration. No more crying” Jack said loudly. “Yeah, but first let's eat dinner together like a family" aunt said to everyone. During dinner, I never looked into anybody's eyes. I don't want them to see my sadness. I was constantly feeling his stare on me but I didn't dare look up. I failed miserably in my plan of convincing my uncle. I was not able to say anything to him.

He pushed forward and went ahead to meet the doctor, eager for any news concerning his wife. "All of you?" He eyed our party of eight, his eyes scanning us. His eyes widened when he saw Nate, recognizing him. He stands up a little straighter and cleared his throat. "I'm going to have to speak with just three family members, please" Uncle Jack is going to be there, naturally. Same as James because he's the first child. Which leaves who will be the first person.

Seeing Hazel's unpleasant face, he felt sorry for her and his opinion of his uncle dropped a lot. "Uncle, I shouldn't have run out without telling you. I won't do it next time. Don't scold the beauty." Richard said. However, Jack didn't even look at him, and sneered at Hazel, "Hazel, you have to please a child to get your way. Now that he has followed you, are you particularly happy?" Hazel took a deep breath, then raised her head and looked at him firmly with red eyes. "Yes, I'm very happy. He likes me, unlike some people who feel disgusted when they see me. What's wrong? Does Mr. Jack have to manage even this?

“Nothing like keeping us waiting is there? Dad is on his third coffee.” “Hmm, sorry about that, you ,now what girls are like.” Uncle Jack said with a chuckle. I rolled my eyes at the dismissive way they discussed us. We were ready at the time we were asked to be as far as I knew, and yet they still complained we were late. Infuriating!

Kyle stood, reaching out for a warm hug. "My boy!" He laughed, tightening his arms around him. "Life's good? I heard you just had your comeback not long ago." Kyle returned him an awkward smile and didn't say anything much. "What's wrong?" Jack asked, bending down slightly to meet his nephew's lowered gaze. "Want some drink?" "My friend has gone missing, and I'm really worried." He sighed, his sentence trailing off with a rise in tone as he cast a doubtful look at his uncle. "WHAT?! MISSING?" Jack freaked out.

“I’m just tired sweetheart and you guys stink. Damon, Declan, Delinda, you need to take your bath, okay? Go on, shower and get rid of that sweaty odor now!” The pouted and began to float away. “Not yet mommy, we’re playing with Uncle Jack.” “I’m sure uncle Jack would want you to shower and smell nice so you can eat and rest.” “Mommy, we know he didn’t tell you that! You’re just bringing it up,” Declan said. The rest concurred, laughing and calling for their uncle Jack. I rolled my eyes at them just as Jack came out with his tight polo and low rise jean. He smiled affectionately at me and rubbed Declan’s head.

Gemma and I chimed together. "Thank you, lovely ladies," Jack said, still grinning. Gemma playfully elbowed him. "If it wasn’t for my loud cheering, you would’ve lost." Jack laughed, shaking his head. "Oh, come on. You know I had this race in the bag, with or without your cheers. But I appreciate them anyway." Before he could say more, Penny and Sergio came rushing toward him. "Congratulations, Uncle Jack!" they cried in unison. "Thank you, my little champs!" Jack scooped both kids into his arms and planted kisses on their cheeks, making them giggle.

I hid all the sad and worried faces I could have and put up a smiling face. "I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. From when your father died to when you got kidnapped, all thanks to your husband." His eyes were staring at me; probably he was expecting me to say something. "Yeah, I'm fine now. But how...how did you get to know all of that?" Now, I was the one giving a suspicious look. Uncle Josiah laughed softly as he walked closer to me. "Your aunties may be so busy with the kitchen and their daily work. But I will always keep an eye on you; your father left us a responsibility we are going to uphold." He cupped my cheeks and smiled.
