I already burned several lights out and Eva jumped when one blew as she passed it. A small pile of tattered rags lay against the wall in a small niche. “Don’t touch that. It’s been there a long time. We can look at it later.” Haden told the others. He didn’t want to mention the tiny, yellowed skull in the shadows of the niche. If this was a normal resort, he’d have thought it a dog’s skull. But the history of the building said otherwise. That was a child’s skull of a wolf shifter.

Chloe added. “I haven't really spoken to him,” Kayla said, which wasn't entirely a lie. They all started talking about how creepy and scary Derrick was, and Kayla took another glance at Lucas. Something hit her then, and her eyes grew wide. That scar! She remembered the nightmares she kept having. The werewolf that always chased her has a deep scar running from its eyebrows to the corner of its eyes. Just like Lucas. Kayla shook her head as she pictured the dark brown animal with deep eyes that had been trying to bite her.

My arm was stretched forth helplessly when this creature betrayed me! Its fangs pierce into my arms and it's pulling me closer with its paws. The rest of the skeletons attack aggressively like huddling with a single prey.

I believe this is a genuine vampire skull.”

The girl recoiled, choking on the suffocating stink of dog and sweat. A deathly blue light flashed in the darkness, and the werewolf, growling and howling, rolled on the ground, enveloped in a ghostly glow. With horror, Lesana saw a terrible animal head on human shoulders. The creature fell to all fours, arching its spine unnaturally. Tearing clothes crackled, revealing not human skin, but wet animal skin.

As it got closer, Blake could see the creature more clearly. The body was that of an oversized dog, no more of a wolf, with its straight and seemingly sharp black hair. There was a skull in the shape of a dog in place of its head with no eye sockets or mouth to be seen but a crack along the center of the skull. The creature was moving its head from side to side, and then the center of the skull head opened. Within were what looked like red membranes, and a mighty sonic shriek was heard from the opening. It reminded Blake of a movie he once saw with a similar animal called a Shrieker.
