"I have seen a couple of episodes with Laura, but they all feel stupid to me." "Ah, not a fan of the drama?" "No." "How about this then... Stranger things; have you seen it?" "I haven't, but... The intro to a movie I already know will be scary flashes on the screen, and shudders travel up my spine. Not good. "No, Ryan, please! I'm bad with horror movies! I jump at every little thing, and then I won't be able to sleep!"

Personally, Christmas is my favourite time of year. What I really love about Halloween, however, is the horror shows that comes on the television. Movies such as; Paranormal Activity, The Quiet Place and The Haunted Mansion and many more nail biting movies that grace the television on this time of year. There are other movies that are not scream worthy, but I love them too, like; Hocus Pocus and The Halloween Town series. Horror movies are my favourite kind of movies, so that's something I'll be looking forward to. "But it's going to be weird; dressing up and going trick or treating." I reasoned.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had the occasional fling, but it wasn’t a habit of mine. “Let’s let it be for now and watch a movie or something, okay?” “Yeah, that sounds good.” I let Z pick the movie, I didn’t care enough to have an opinion. I would either end up overthinking this afternoon the entire time or falling asleep. I am trying not to do either but couldn’t for the life of me tell you what has happened during this movie. I seriously wonder if that's become second nature to her? “Maybe something sappy, where you can cry your balls out,” Freddie suggests shyly. He can be so adorable. “I think a horror movie would be perfect,” that’s what I truly need right now. Something with no sense at all, scary, and a lot of blood and killing. It may seem morbid, but that's right now.

Picking up the remote, I began to navigate through the various movie options available. In the midst of scrolling, I turned to her, curiosity pricking at my mind "What’s your favorite movie?" I asked, genuinely interested to know more about her preferences. "I have a couple of favorites" she began, a thoughtful expression crossing her face "It might sound a bit unexpected, but I really love 'Rain Man' and 'I am Sam'" Her revelation did take me by surprise. Both were emotionally intense films, dealing with complex themes such as mental health and the challenges of parenthood. They were poignant stories that left a lasting impact on their viewers.

“What’s your favorite movie?” Laura is silent for a long moment, her bottom lip between her teeth as she thinks. “I-I don’t know.” She exhales. “I think I liked comedies or drama pieces. Nothing sad or scary.” I offer her a smile. “I don’t like anything scary either.” Her eyes widened in surprise. “Really?” “Hell, yeah.” I nod without an ounce of shame. “Demons and poltergeists are terrifying.” Laura’s throat releases the quietest laugh. “Yeah, they are.”

She said after putting the plates on the dish rack. Smiling I asked, "Want to watch a movie?" "Conjuring?" I laughed at her reply as I already knew that she was going to suggest a horror movie as she was a fan of those but at the same time she was going to be too scared to keep her eyes open at the scary moments. She flipped me a bird and went to start the movie by herself and I went to make a bowl of popcorn. Half way through the movie, a very scared Pearl was bundled up in my hold and that was how 'The Conjuring' became my most favourite movie in the world.

She chuckled. "Nice idea! We'll watch a horror movie!" I said happily as I watched her eyes widen at the suggestion. "No! I want to watch The Vow!" She pouted. "How about Insidious? Or The Exorcism of Emily Rose?" I asked, ignoring her protests and skipping to the box to search for a good horror movie. "No!" She shouted behind me. "How about Poltergeist?" "No!" "Annabelle?" "No!" "The Grudge?" "No freaking way. I don't​ want to wet my pants. I watched it once and damn, I was so near to pissing myself. That creature, oh my God, that thing in that movie gives me nightmares."
