What To Read For Book Club Novels & Stories

No need to look for another lie. "A women's book club, that's what I'm going for," I said, hoping he would believe my outlandish lie. "So let me get this straight." He sat up on his chair. "A bunch of ladies leave their homes with paperback novels, then find a fancy cafe and sit around in a circle talking about fictional characters they're in love with?" he asked, and I nodded at him, thinking this was the best approach. "Pretty much, yeah. It gets worse, but you're not supposed to know about that."

“Would you like to join a book club or something?” I stopped walking and turned to look at her. “A book club?” “Yeah,” she said, nodding. “There’s one I’m in. It’s actually really nice. Good people, good conversations. It might help you… reset a little.” I raised an eyebrow. “You? In a book club?” She gasped dramatically. “Wow. That’s rude.” I smiled faintly. “It’s not. I’m just surprised.” “It’s not boring, I promise,” she said. “And you might like it. It’ll give you something new to focus on.”

It's been a week since everything has been normal for a while. After I stopped reading those novels I got bored, my reading addiction got the best of me and here I am at the Coven Book Club. Yeah, habit. I was very very antisocial so I didn't know most of the girls here and they all attended my school for the past three years. Yep, I know, they can be a bit weird if we weren't discussing the novel we read that week. They would talk about magic, zodiacs and other stuff.

Lately, the former president of Loser Club had been digging into the genre a bit too deep. "We've got some classics too, though," Heather said. "Let me see," Jane said. "After all, I have to approve of the book choice for the next discussion." "Alright, Miss. President," Emily laughed. "How about Anne of Green Gables?" Jane said, picking up a book, and turned to Lucy with a smile. "Oh, yes! I love Anne!" Lucy breathed. "I've read it twice! But of course, we can go with it again."

eww. I figured tonight was my one chance to visit The Club before anyone knew I had come to town, so here I am. Last time I was here, I wasn't old enough to enter. I've been curious about this place for years. So now is my chance to check out the infamous B D S M sex club. I've been coming to this sunny part of Florida for years now and people talk in town talk about this place like it's some kind of taboo. Maybe it is for some but I grew up knowing the people involved. Good people. So what if they like their sex a little kinky? It's not anyone's business what happens in the bedroom or sex rooms, as the case may be.

There was an awkward silence. “So, are you going to sit down or what?”

"Let's go a little later. I have some things to do." She dried up her hands on a towel. "In that case I'll go down to the lake and then I'll pick you up in say an hour? Is that enough time?" "Make it two. I have book club. Possibly three hours. One of the girls is bringing little chocolate glazed doughnuts. You should come!" Her book club has some of the most idle gossipers in Sunrise Cove. I wouldn't risk it. I'm past passing off for bloated. "No thank you. I'll go down to the river."

I just finished five chapters in one sitting. I grabbed my phone, opened Telegram, and went to my chat group, Lovely Buricats 💦. It's a lively space filled with writers, and as usual, I was late to the conversation. I started back-reading their earlier messages, trying to catch up on the chatter I had missed. Born to Be Wild: Uggghh. Guys! Let's hit a bar tonight. I'm feeling down. How about the new Paradox Club? It just opened let's check it out.
