When Does Aelin Get Captured By Maeve Novels & Stories

Lucan stumbled toward me through the ash, eyes wide. “Elara—what the hell just happened?” “I lost him,” I breathed. “Kael’s gone. The Maw took him.” Lucan’s face fell. “No. No, that can’t be. He—he’s Alpha. He’s your mate. The bond—” “The bond’s still there,” I said, clutching my chest. “But it’s distant. Dim.” He’s alive. But somewhere else. Somewhere beneath. Anya arrived next, followed by Rowan and three witches. They looked at the ruins of the grove like they’d just seen the end of the world.

It didn't look like she was talking to me. “What do you mean?” Travis hurriedly ran to Elena. “I can't remember, someone injected my lady with something, someone pushed me and hit me on the head, and when I woke up, some fisherman saved me and my husband's life,” Elena cried out, and Travis helped her to her feet. “The Queen didn't run away?” Travis questioned carefully. “Run away? The Queen Mother had ordered the nurse to seize Aurora and take her to the palace asylum,” Elena bit her tongue as she blurted out.

It had been months since Leah's downfall, and the wounds left by her treachery were slowly healing. Elaine stood at the edge of the forest, her white fur glowing in the early morning light. She looked out over her pack, feeling a deep sense of peace and fulfillment. This was where she belonged, and she had earned her place among them through strength, courage, and an unyielding sense of justice. Killian approached her, his royal attire reflecting the dawn's light. His presence was a calming force, a reminder of the bond they shared and the future they were building together. He reached out, gently taking her hand in his.

Repulsion shudders through me, although his grip on me is too tight to pull away. “Meara and I will be just fine, won’t we sweetheart?” he murmurs, looking at me. I sneer at him, letting out an irritated growl. Sire's expression drops, his eyes darkening. “Can’t we get this over with?" I snap as Carran finally lets me go, having successfully made his point. The Alpha nods. “The witches will start now.” I give Sire another look, feeling doubt in my decision. This has to work, because I can't face what will happen if I'm forced to let him out again...his wrath will be unimaginable.

Her rules had failed her. But as the beast prepared to spring, a sudden, blinding flash of authority rippled through the bond of the pack, forcing the executioners to instantly drop their heads in absolute submission. From the deepest part of the fog, a heavy, deliberate footstep echoed, and a presence so dark and suffocating stepped into the clearing that the very air in Valerie's lungs turned to ice. The King had arrived.

"You called for me, High Alpha." Dominic didn't sit down. He looked at the daughter of his dead ally with a heavy, somber pity that looked entirely wrong on his face. "Selene. The Nightbreeze High Council has officially broken the treaty. They are marching on our borders as we speak." Selene didn't flinch. A small, mercurial tremor passed through her lower lip, but she caught it, her jaw tightening. "I assume they are coming to rescue me from my 'captors'?"

Andrew stood at her side, his sword drawn and ready. The pair took their steps surely, spotting the first guard. Elaine jumped into action. With swift steps, she came from behind, her small but sure hands pounding hard into the vulnerable part of the man’s exposed neck. The guard crumbled to the ground in a heap, a loud thump echoing through the empty library.

Although the dungeon was dark and stank. “Now I'll get to see my sister, do I have to cry?” “If you want to, although I won't want your make-up to be ruined” When Scar walked towards the gates, he pushed the gates wide and the two guards standing at the door stepped aside. Scar stayed with the guards while giving us room to talk with Maeve. “It's good he knows when he is not needed” “He is not the problem” “Everyone is” I held her hand as you walked closer to her. I knew Maeve had become frightened the moment the door was pushed open. She was a scared little cockroach and I could squash her with my bare hands that way she would disappear.

Owen stands, also, and I go to his side. The throne room is practically in chaos, but he just looks triumphant. I just helped him steal the pack. My father wasn’t a traitor. Ashton wasn’t a traitor. Owen is trying to take Toronto for Greater London. My mind is spinning, so I barely register the shout of, “Now!” from the angry crowd. I turn the source of the sound only to be met by a spray of something hot and wet across my face and chest. I only realize the acolyte at my side is dead when she falls against me and to the floor.
