Lev and I made our way to the table, a fleeting hope that her smiles might linger when our eyes met. Yet, as our eyes locked for that brief moment, something shifted. Her expression transformed, the warmth draining from her face to be replaced by a look of indifference, hurt, and deliberate ignorance. It was as if a curtain had fallen, concealing the vibrant personality that usually danced in her eyes. She averted her gaze to Anna, leaving me with an unexpected chill that crept down my spine
