With a gentle hand, she begins to caress my brow. "Shhhhh," She soothes me. "Help is coming. Just hold onto me." I try to squeeze her hand back, but I have no strength. Her face begins to blur. "Abigail?" Her voice seems far away like she's yelling at me underwater. Blackness begins to creep its way across the room. I blink my eyes, trying to wipe the black spots away, but they only grow. Then, they swallow Abigail whole.

Finally, the day has come, for the much awaited mathematics competition in Nightingale Academy, tagged ‘Annual Mathematics Quiz’. Of all the 6 participating students, only Ayo was visibly nervous before the start of the quiz. She had no idea why. Maybe, it’s because this was her first time participating in a mathematics-only competition or it was because she didn't believe in herself. The prying eyes of the JSS 1 student didn't leave her body too. This added to her anxiety.

The elevator dings and when I look at the down and up arrows, I see the down arrow lit up. Someone is getting on the elevator from downstairs. I look frantically and hope I can locate what I need soon. I'm not sure how much longer I can last in here. Lower and lower the elevator falls and that's when it hits me. I look up and see mirrors upon mirrors. My reflection looks that of fear. "Look at yourself when you feel like you can't go on anymore Belle. Find the bravery within."

"What do you mean by that?" "Phil, the danger is coming. Inhabitants of the abyss could not manifest inside the real world, they would vanish in a puff of smoke mere seconds after they exit the abyss, even the plains of sleep reject their presence and they only thrive inside the abyss. I knew something was wrong when you encountered the nightmare origin inside Annie's nightmare. It was only affected by the miasma from the twilight zone, but the strength of that nightmare origin could be classified as a lower-middle-class in terms of its standing in the abyss after it transformed."

he kisses my cheeks. Thomas Hardy once said 'There is a condition worse than blindness, and that is, seeing something that isn't there. In this case, I had to assume the person who pushed me was nothing more than my mere imagination.

“You can open deeper.” Kieran’s voice came rough behind me. “If you go deeper, you’re stepping into rogue law.” Dax’s eyes didn’t leave mine. “And if you don’t, you’re stepping into a cage.” The stone above us cracked. Dust rained down. And something began to squeeze into the passage.

It’s too wrong. The buzzing doesn’t stop. The panic crawls up my spine, slow and cold. For a second I think I’m about to spiral, about to start imagining things that aren’t there, conspiracies, traps, people watching. Then it clicks.I must’ve turned something off earlier. Muted it. Switched settings just to survive the onslaught. My thumb hovers, then I type one message. Just one. Please reach out. I need you. I don’t know if he’ll see it. I don’t know if he can. I sent it anyway.

The last thing he felt was the cool breeze of the real night drifting down into the wreckage, smelling not of ozone, but of damp concrete and possibility. The Abyss had tried to consume them, but the Abyss had no heart, and that—Anji decided just before sleep claimed him—was its one and only flaw.

She didn’t bother to turn it off as it slided back to her neck and she tried to keep her eyes open looking at the mesmerizing sky. “Its not so bad if this is the end right?” Abbey murmured as felt she couldn’t hold on any longer. “I have you to keep me company and my last view of this world is magnificent.”
