Shanti said smiling. “What is it witch,” Lewis growled, but Shanti and I ignored it. I knew that Lewis was fighting his wolf for command, but why I was not sure. “I forgot to mention that there are other witches that are fans of your mate. Something was happening. Kendrick shot out of his chair and shifted midway to his massive silver wolf, landing on his powerful paws. The door blew off its hinges as the wolf slammed into it with a loud roar. He growled threateningly at the sight he saw. Thousands of black witches. Flying like bats all over the sky on their brooms. Their evil cackling could be heard as they swooped down and flew back up with birdlike cries. While from beneath the ground, giant ugly trolls crawled out. Their bodies were covered with earth and grime, their yellow eyes bulging out of the sockets. They held giant clubs and roared at the wolves.

The doors opened too. Amariah’s eyes widened as she realized that her shield was gone. The Triplet Alphas moved instantly. Jett’s snarl was the first I heard as his strength returned, his fangs sinking into one of the witches that tried to run. Talon immediately cast a spell protecting us as Amariah tried to use her spell again. The wolves outside poured in through the broken doors, their paws thundering against the floorboards as they walked in. The witches tried to fight back, but their magic had become weak since I destroyed the anchor they were using.

Beth thrashed, clawing at the iron grip around her scalp, but it was useless. My stomach lurched as the witch’s jaw unhinged unnaturally wide, her rotten teeth bared, aiming for Beth’s neck. "Wait, wait! Please wait!" I cried, desperation clawing at my throat. "Don’t do this—take me instead! Please, take me!" Tears blurred my vision as I stared into the witch’s dead, soulless eyes. My hands trembled at my sides. I would do anything, anything, to keep Beth alive. The witch tilted her head, watching me like a cat toying with its prey. A slow, sinister smile curled across her lips. She swayed slightly, back and forth, as if savoring the moment. A sick game.
