"Drop it by the table," I said, my voice cold and flat. "I will take it later."
"You should take it now," Dom said. He didn't lower his hand. "It is better when you take it hot."
I didn't answer. I kept staring at the wall.
"The steam is the kill, Diane," he whispered, stepping a fraction closer. "The hotness is the remedy. Take it before the heat expires."
I didn't want to argue about a stupid cup of tea. Not when I knew that I needed this thing more than I could admit.
